“Imagine yourself at Attabad Lake. In a warm, comfortable ‘igloo’, snuggled in a cloud-like blanket, sipping hot cocoa. Surrounded by good company and great views. You’ll never want to leave!”
Attabad Lake in Hunza is a miracle of nature. Formed accidentally during a landslide in 2010, it has become a major tourist attraction over the years. Pakistanis make the pilgrimage to the turquoise wonder every year during the hot sweltering summer months. With boat rides, fishing, jet-skiing and getting a true to life taste of the local cuisine and culture – it is indeed the perfect vacation destination.
Though many local businesses have popped up around the Attabad lake area, catering to the tourists’ needs and wants, no one can compare to The Sweet Tooth’s brilliant venture!
Though Sweet Tooth began its business as a predominantly dessert only shop (ice-cream specifically *yum!*), it seems to have foraged into new territory. Their latest idea is boosting tourism to Hunza by providing people the chance to live in an eco-dome.
What’s An Eco-dome Exactly, You Ask?

An eco-dome provides a unique way of living. Its geodesic dome follows the subtle blueprint of nature. Akin to a beehive or a spiders’ web, its simple structure can withstand extreme climate conditions such as earthquakes and storms and might just be the strongest structure known to man! And let’s not forget the obvious. It looks like an adorable little igloo!

Umer Hussain the CEO of The Sweet Tooth, proclaims to be a foodie and an adventurer. Thus, it’s no surprise that he has so wonderfully incorporated his passions together and implemented it so perfectly.
Location, location, location. They’re not kidding when they say that. Now Pakistanis can glamp in style! Staying in a stuffy old tent is a thing of the past. Tourists can now stay in these “igloos” to their heart’s content.
The best part, it’s eco-friendly! The eco-domes use solar power and Umer Hussain plans on cutting down plastic consumption in the future.
With the beautiful Attabad lake visible from your bed, you’ll wake up every morning to the shimmering water and the soothing sounds of mother nature and you’ll go to sleep as the sun sets behind the majestic peaks of the Karakoram Mountains.
Moreover, what’s a trip to Attabad, without good food? The Sweet Tooth has got you covered on all fronts. Their statement mouth-watering desserts are available at the Attabad Lake location as well! A warm cup of hot-chocolate sounds heavenly when you need time alone in order to bask in nature’s glory.

I can already imagine myself snuggling in a cozy blanket and gazing up at the night sky! Definitely, the best of both worlds.

Areesha Khan harbours a burning passion for writing. This is what she has to say for herself:
I’m your average Pakistani Millennial who loves binge watching trash-TV. When I can, I try to widen my horizons and watch profound works of cinematography as well. In the wild, I can be found sniffing my weathered paperbacks. I regularly obsess over true crime (much to the chagrin of my friends) and love discussing it unprompted. I’m currently working on my undergrad and would love to have a profession in print media.
