Ayesha Khurram is an immigrant Pakistani student in Ontario. The 20-year-old is a full-time student at the University of Waterloo & also a loyal Swiftie.
She had the pleasure of meeting Taylor Swift on her Reputation tour last year. In her post, she describes how Taylor recognized her from Tumblr and invited her to the preshow and spent a good amount of time talking to them even though she was busy.
Ayesha has been a Swiftie since 2009 and regularly posts about her favorite icon on Tumblr. However, recently after Ontario’s provincial government made cuts to its Student Assistance Program, Ayesha was at a loss to pay her tuition fees for her second year as an accounting and financial management major.
As a last resort, the immigrant Pakistani student posted on Tumblr asking for help in covering the costs. Ayesha wrote that she was venting when she posted online because it’s really hard and expensive to pay tuition off. Taking into account a friends’ suggestion, she included her PayPal details as well. Lo and behold, two hours later her problems were solved.
Taylor Swift To The Rescue!
While Ayesha was baking Taylor Swift’s recipe for Chai cookies she got an email that would change her life! Turns out Taylor Swift decided to cover the cost of her tuition! A note attached to the money transfer from Taylor Nation, LLC said, “Ayesha, get your learn on girl. I love you! Taylor.”

“Taylor Swift took that stress from my parents, my world, and I have never seen them cry/laugh the way they are right now. she has made my family happy through music for years and now through something we could never, ever have imagined or hoped for. I truly do not have the words and I will never, ever be able to repay her for the love and kindness she has shown me right now.”, Ayesha stated in a note praising.
Who Is Ayesha Khurram?

Ayesha Khurram is the daughter of immigrant Pakistani parents who work low-wage jobs in Mississauga, Ontario. Her mother also suffers from chronic kidney disease. Thus, her family has been under much emotional stress and therefore she couldn’t turn to them for financial help.
We wish Ayesha the best of luck for University and we’re so proud of Taylor Swift for helping a fan out! Though, this isn’t her first time surprising fans with generous gestures! We hope South-Asian celebrities take a cue from her as well.

Areesha Khan harbours a burning passion for writing. This is what she has to say for herself:
I’m your average Pakistani Millennial who loves binge watching trash-TV. When I can, I try to widen my horizons and watch profound works of cinematography as well. In the wild, I can be found sniffing my weathered paperbacks. I regularly obsess over true crime (much to the chagrin of my friends) and love discussing it unprompted. I’m currently working on my undergrad and would love to have a profession in print media.
