Coach Emad Foundation established Coach Emad Football Academy in Lyari in December 2018. Soon after, it started renovating a boxing club next to the football ground.

Prior, the boxing club was in shambles. The addicts of the area were using the place as a makeshift drug den. After a complete renovation of the place, Coach Emad Foundation approached K Electric to fund the club’s exercise & boxing equipment. Thus, they received a donation from K Electric last month.

The Sarbazi Health & Boxing Club

Finally on September 1st, the Sarbazi health & boxing club was officially opened. The club is named after the Sarbazi clan. The Sarbazi clan is predominant in the surrounding areas.

The club is now fully renovated. Moreover, all the equipment has been installed. There is a full range of gym equipment & boxing training facility available.

It is completely free of cost for the people of the neighborhood of Lyari to benefit from. Thus, it will help curb social problems in the area as people pursue more physical activities.

Moreover, there were 4 short exhibition boxing matches at the inauguration. The Chief Guest for the event was Malik M Fayyaz (Chairman DMC South) who was accompanied by Habib Hasan (Chairman Union Council 12) & Humayun Saghir (COO – K Electric).

Last but not least, Mr. Spenser Fearon (a famous sports promoter & an ex-boxer) had a live FaceTime session for the young children of Lyari. Mr. Fearon and Ian Rush had met with the family of Coach Emad on their visit to Karachi in April.

Lastly, we wish Coach Emad Foundation the best of luck in their efforts to make Lyari a better place for all. May Emad’s legacy always live in the hearts of these beautiful people of Lyari.

Areesha Khan harbours a burning passion for writing. This is what she has to say for herself:
I’m your average Pakistani Millennial who loves binge watching trash-TV. When I can, I try to widen my horizons and watch profound works of cinematography as well. In the wild, I can be found sniffing my weathered paperbacks. I regularly obsess over true crime (much to the chagrin of my friends) and love discussing it unprompted. I’m currently working on my undergrad and would love to have a profession in print media.
