Misbah Ul Haq Is Back – And Part of Me Died Today!

Misbah is back as Chief Selector and Head Coach, but Pakistani Cricket fans are NOT happy. “Do we not learn from history?”, they say.

We Pakistanis just don’t learn from our mistakes at all. I know people will hate me, or curse me for saying this, but have we actually forgotten Pakistan Cricket from 2011 (post World Cup 2011) till World Cup 2015?

Misbah was the best test batsmen we had, but he literally ruined our one-day cricket for a span of 4 years. How can we forget that? It really took us some long, painful moments to try and erase the damage from our memories.

His shot in the 2007 World T20 final but we forgave him. It took us even longer to forget his snail-paced innings against India in the World Cup semifinal. He actually succeeded in making us hate one day cricket only till he finally exited after the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Apart from one series win in India and one series win against South Africa (because we played 3 series with them in one year) what other achievements does Misbah have?

Have We Already Forgotten Misbah’s Shortcomings?

How can we forget the worst ever champions trophy of 2013? Can we forget that Pakistan (a former world champion), was ranked no.7 when he left ODI cricket? How can we forget the perpetual arguments on social media about the worst ever batting form throughout his tenure?

Yes, he was a very good test player. He was a better captain as well, we even climbed up to the no. 1 spot (for a week), under his guidance. But all these positives can not be balanced out by the glaring negatives!

Does Misbah really understand modern cricket? Misbahul Haq is a player who criticized Mohammad Aamir on his bowling performance against the West Indies in the inaugural World Cup 2019 match and later, admitted that he was wrong about him.

Misbah was a captain who actually failed to leave behind any legacy, at the same time as our neighbors prepared Virat Kohli to lead after Dhoni retired. How can we forget all that?

We did not groom any fast bowlers during his tenure as captain, we did not schedule any proper game plans during his tenure, how many times did we cross 300 runs in an innings when he captained matches? It was Shahid Afridi who rescued us in the Bangladesh and India matches.

Even when Misbah was captain the whole nation used to say:

“ABHI AFRIDI NE ANA HAI”!

Why I’m Boycotting Pakistani Matches Until Further Notice

This is insanity at its peak. How can Ehsan Mani be this nearsighted? How can he make such a gross error in judgment? Misbah Ul Haq as Chief Selector and Head Coach ?! You have got to be kidding me?

My name is TAYYAB BOMBAL. My first love was, is, and will always be cricket – but today I’m saying this out loud: I won’t be watching Pakistani cricket matches till Misbah Ul Haq remains our coach and selector. Part of me died today!
