As Kate and William prepare to touch down on Pakistani soil, there is reason to celebrate the visit. The tour is expected to dispel some of the negative media image about Pakistan and perhaps transport it to an up and coming, forward looking, aspiring future stake holder on the world stage! So many hopes are tied with the royals’ visit and so high is the media hype around it, (The British High Commission in Islamabad one of the U.K.’s largest diplomatic missions in the world), that welcome videos have been doing the rounds on social media and Twitter is alive with the latest updates.
Let’s pause for a moment to take a look at the woman behind all the love and celebration. Why is she not ‘just’ a future monarch. What can women aspire to learn from her, or take away and get inspired? Here are 10 things that have our attention.
1. Approach to a Healthy Body & Mind
Kate works out daily for an hour. She incorporates planking, yoga and running to keep her calm down and de-stress, as well as building up strength and core muscles.

2. A Princess with a University Degree
Kate is the first royal bride who holds a university degree. Kate holds a Masters degree in Art History from the St. Andrew’s University in Scotland. She will be the First queen to be to have ever gone to college.

3. She did her own Makeup on her Wedding.
Kate is a DIY princess when it comes to looking good. She took a number of makeup classes ahead of her wedding and went on to do her own makeup for the big day! How’s that for setting an example!

4. Her Celeb Crush is Tom Cruise
Yes, she’s like the rest of us gals! Celeb Crush no. 1 is Tom Cruise and her favourite movie is Tom Cruise’s Cocktail!

5. Kate is the Oldest Royal Bride in-waiting-to-be Queen in UK history!
How’s THAT for breaking stereotypes? Kate was 29 when she married Prince William. There’s no ‘RIGHT” age to get married, just do it when you meet your prince charming. Not before, not after!

6. She has Lived in the Middle East for Some Time.
Kate has lived in Jordan when she was only 2 years old along with her family and sister Pippa. Her parents had relocated to Aman, Jordan for 2 1/2 years. The international location, is a bit of a surprise for the orthodox royal family, and will probably add to her charm of being a people’s person, at some point later, just like her m in law. Kate has lived an unconventional childhood, and yet slipped into her royal role with grace. It is this grace that we can do well to emulate to some extent, and emit confidence at whatever we do!
7. And the Cherry on Top – She’s Older Than Her Prince.
Kate & William have been unconventional in their own quiet way. Kate is apparently 6 months older than William. So all you desi brides who study in the same college as your groom to be, don’t be disheartened! You have what it takes … and so much more!
8. An Avid Sportswoman, and Good At It!
During her school days, the duchess excelled at sports, drama and music. Tennis, hockey and netball are some of the sports that she had enjoyed. So all you up and coming hockey and cricket players, claim your space girls – Women’s Sports is the way to go!

9. Time’s Most Influential List
She has twice been selected as one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2012 and 2013. Kate is playing her role as Ambassador and making a difference in a world where opinion counts.
10. And finally, for all you Millenials out there! Kate Will ‘Honour’ and ‘Keep’ William but not …?
When Kate and William shared wedding vows, Kate left out the command to “obey” in her vows. Just like her mother-in-law Princess Diana, Kate kept that she would “honor” and “keep” her husband in her vows, but took out that she would “obey” him.
