Rakaposhi – Hit or Miss?

When anticipating a hearty meal at a new eatery, the aromas, the ambiance, the music, lighting and interior set the mood. The pre-meal details can actually make or break an otherwise perfect culinary experience.

Rakaposhi seemed to have hit the right notes – the cozy new eatery located at Sehar Commercial, Phase 7, DHA, invited us in with a faint whiff of ‘what’s cooking in the kitchen’ – agreeable, we might say. The aromas served to whet appetites as we assumed a (sort of) trance-like state even before the first morsel was served. After being seated, we had a look at the menu. On first impression, it appeared a bit limited, but upon reading it fully, we realized that the menu had a little bit of everything.

So here’s what we ordered

Starters: Shareable platter

The Shareable Platter consisted of a variety of savories, they included Buffalo bites, Mozzarella sticks, Potato skins, chicken strips and three dips. What we loved? All of them! The buffalo bites were succulent and glazed in a tangy and slightly fiery sauce, the Mozzarella sticks paired with the marinara dipping sauce were lip-smackingly epic, the chicken strips were deep fried to golden perfection with just the right thickness, but the potato skins scored the winning goal, they were stuffed with cheese and topped with chopped capsicum and chives, we couldn’t stop ourselves from eating them.

Main course: Jalapeno Chicken

The Jalapeno Chicken had two crispy, fried, succulent, golden brown fillets, topped with creamy white sauce, sided with sautéed vegetables and fries. It is perhaps the best dish out there for someone who likes their food slightly, but not completely spicy.

Main course: Basil Chicken with Thai Chilies

The stir fried chicken was served with a side of rice, it was garnished with chives, had faint hints of basil, and was covered in a sweet and sour gravy, the mini chilies mixed in between delivered in bite-sized bursts of flavors and we couldn’t get enough of it.

Main course: Rakaposhi’s Signature Pizza

The pizza was served on flatbread topped with cheese, pepperonis, beef, jalapenos, onions and bell peppers, served with oils and garnishes. Let’s just say it was all gone in five minutes

Dessert: Belgian Cookie Dough

The Belgian Cookie Dough appeared on a skillet – a scrumptious cookie served with vanilla ice cream. The soft, chocolaty center oozed chocolate love, and filled not just our tummies, but our hearts.

Drinks: Salted Caramel Shake

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the drink for you, the Salted Caramel Shake was a frothy, yummy concoction served with a dollop of whipped cream, creating a perfect balance of flavors.

Drinks: Dark Chocolate Mocha

The Dark Chocolate Mocha was the star of the show – Warm, bittersweet coffee that tasted like chocolate heaven – a perfect cuppa for these chilly winter nights.

What we thought overall?

Rakaposhi is definitely the spot to hit. Even though the menu is set at a higher than average price point, the restaurant emits a casual vibe -perfect for students to study and share a meal with, it is also a great place to hold business meetings – the pricing is just so worth it. We will definitely be going back to try out their extensive breakfast menu.

So head out there over the weekend and tell us how it was?
