The poster says KHI EAT 2020 – it’s Iconic. We couldn’t agree more,  IT IS iconic. Khi Eat, once a year gives the residents of Karachi the much-needed, much-awaited treat of an outing with family and friends to enjoy super-good food and music.

So Karachiites hold on to the loves of your life as you get caught up in an intense food affair! Which stalls have caught your fancy? We plan to mark our favourites and go for the ‘EAT”. Join us as we give you our Top 12 Picks for Khi Eat Food Festival 2020 – the stalls we definitely plan to hit & we recommend as a MUST-Try!

1: Burmese Bowls

Probably our favourite and top of the list, Burmese Bowls claims to offer Deliciously authentic Burmese food. So yes, you can look forward to some home made, fresh and chatpati finger-lickin’ Khaousay.  However what we are really looking forward to is their KhowSaMosa! A delicious homemade aloo samosa topped with 7 Khaousay condiments served with authentic coconut curry. We can’t wait to check out this interesting twist on samosa.

2: Mana’s Cookies or Sugar Drizzle?

For those with a sweet tooth, this could be a hard choice … which one to go for? Both Mana’s cookies and Sugar Drizzle offer freshly baked gourmet cookies ranging from chocolate chunk to Nutella. they both will spoil you to the core. So we have decided to feature both and add them on our list of must-try at Khi eat 2020.

3: Tikyani

If you’re thinking Khi Eat 2020 will have nothing local this time. you are wrong. Check out Tikyani, a combination of Tikka and Biryani. Irresistible aroma, tender chicken pieces, basmati rice and addictive tikka flavor! That’s what the description says on Tikyani’s Facebook page. Our research of their social media pages and comments about them indicate that those who have tried it, loved it! So Tikyani has definitely caught our attention without us even smelling the irresistible aroma of Biryani.

4: Zeytin

Shawarma fries, pocket shawarma, shawarma platter … honestly – doesn’t this make you crave Turkish food right away? Imagine crispy hot flatbread with well-seasoned shawarma cuts on a cold winter evening, top that with some yogurt sauce for relish – and you’re in food heaven! Well the wait is almost over as Zeytin brings us the taste of Turkey at Khi Eat with these delicious and mouths watering varieties.

5: Burger boss

This new entry lets you create your own burger. As they say “you are the boss of your own burger”. At the Khi Eat, we have a new comer by the name of ‘Boss Double’ by #BurgerBoss at #KhiEat20. Their signature Boss Double has two juicy beef patties made from the finest grass-fed beef, topped with crispy lettuce and sweet & spicy onion relish sauce for that extra oomph. The patties are paired with two slices of sharp cheddar and served in potato buns. This is definitely NOT your regular burger and our mouth is already watering.

6. Khichdi Express

‘Khichdi Thaal’ by #KhichdiExpress at #khieat20 definitely seems to be the perfect dish to share with friends. Khichdi  with papad, salad and chutney can be finger licking good and hard to say no to. If your taste buds crave desi and like to keep it simple yet flavourful, then this one’s for you. It comes with all the right sidelines to make this Khichdi a complete and wholesome package.

7:#Mamu’s SeaFood Grill  

‘Skewered Barbequed Prawns’ by #MamuSeaFoodGrill – the thought of these has us drooling! Imagine feasting on crispy-hot, freshly grilled prawns in the light Karachi winters – need we say more?

We hope we won’t be stuck in long queues there.

8: Portside

Are you ready for some Tikka Tarka, Haryaali, and Creamy Punch? Seafood has suddenly taken a very appetizing twist with all these varieties offered at Khi Eat. If this were not enough, what about some stuffed prawns layered with Sriracha Creamy Sauce … ahh sounds irresistibly delicious – must try must try!

9: The Nugget Town

These nuggets are not for kids for sure … and not for the faint-hearted as well. The Nugget Town is bringing the ‘hottest food challenge’ to Pakistan only at Karachi Eat from 10-12 Jan at Stall # 70. Think you can handle nuggets which measure 1,000,000 SHU? 

We don’t know if we can handle the heat but we are super-excited to at least give these a try.  The tender crispy nuggets tossed in Korean Sauce, served over flavourful Mac’n Cheese, also sounded very interesting.  TNT here we come!

10: Pink Beans

Cakesickles from Pink Beans appear to be the ideal treat for kids and adults alike. The cakesickles are cakes on a stick! Cakesickles come in a choice of 2 flavours: dark chocolate and milk chocolate while the customers will have a choice of dipping their cakesickles in either dark chocolate ganache or white chocolate ganache, both of which will be available in the form of chocolate fountains! These chocolaty treats are ideal to satisfy your sweet tooth as you roam around Khi Eat checking out the rest of the stalls. Can’t wait to get our hands on these!

11: Lemon grass

If you want to visit Khi Eat to try some non-desi food then this one should be on you list. The “Crying Tiger” with pieces of tender beef steak and spicy Thai dipping sauce (Nam Jim Jaew) served with Thai house salad and string fries, looks divinely delicious. The Prawn Tepenyaki also caught our attention.

12: Kuiya – The Art of Potato

Namak Pyarey from Kuiya  are a blend of authentic traditional savoury and creative mixture of Vanilla Ice cream and a Secret Chocolate recipe. Hot Chocolate + Ice Cream + Crispy Namak pyarey – Ooo lala! This sounds so exotic – a unique twist on traditional Namak Parey!

So that’s our Top 12 Picks on the Food stalls at Khi Eat 2020. Hopefully, we won’t be distracted by nos. 13, 14 or 15 – not on our list yet!

The KARACHI EAT is a food festival built around the idea of creating a common platform for people who love food. It will be held from January 10 to January 12th in 2020 in Karachi. It is much loved and widely attended due to the strict safety and security measures taken by the organizers.
