“Numerous mothers could not afford basic necessities to care for their children, some even did not have sufficient funds to bury their still-borns.”
The Mama Baby Fund is a non-profit organization founded by LUMS graduate, Neha Mankani, who dedicated her time to helping mothers in need.

Neha decided to work in this field after seeing numerous mothers who could not afford the basic necessities to care for their children, some even did not have sufficient funds to bury their still-borns, which was the most heartbreaking event she witnessed. The fund is dedicated to making lives better for those who cannot afford prenatal and postnatal care. There are so many cases in Pakistan where women lose their lives just because they don’t have the funds, and cannot afford basic healthcare, and Neha realized that wasn’t fair.
The fund was founded in 2019, and as per their Facebook page, they are proud to announce their achievements of 2019, which include, hospital fees for 111 mothers and 74 babies in the Neonatal ICU (NICU), delivery fees for 36 women, care packages for 900 newborns and so much more.

The fund says: “The maternal, newborn, and infant mortality rates in Pakistan continue to be some of the highest globally- many of which are due to preventable causes related to financial challenges and quality of care. MBF’s efforts are aimed at reducing these statistics by providing funds and other resources for women and their newborns.”
This woman’s day, let’s be grateful for all that we have, and help those who aren’t as privileged. Let’s spark a change and bring the world closer together, one mama at a time!
