This Friday, every Jo Tu Chaahay viewer and most of the Drama lovers were glued to their TV screens. The year’s most anticipated drama serial Zebaish had to launch and everybody was waiting with baited breath … Finally when the Drama started, and right up to the end, all the viewers (including yours truly), were not ready to leave their TV screens.

Zebaish cast
The story was intriguing right from the first episode

The Story

Written by Bushra Ansari the story was intriguing right from the first episode. Although the drama throws light on a theme that many audiences do not identify with, the slick direction, sets and stellar cast seem to be propelling it as viewer-worthy material. Only time will tell if future episodes will serve to engage drama fans, or push them away!

The drama portrays two polar opposite setups; one is the typical dynamics of the “Aastana Culture” and how the “Gaddi” (the seat) affects the lives of the people living there and also the lives of the entire tribe. This track revolves around “Syaah Posh Waasif” played by Iqbal Hussain who is also the director of the play. He is the present “Gaddi Nasheen” (caretaker) of the tribe and seems too possessive for his power which he landed accidently when his elder brother “Nafees ud din” married a dancer and actress of old times played by Asma Abbas.

“Naushi” (daughter of Nafees ud din) played by the versatile Zara Noor Abbas is a simple, innocent, yet very strong-headed and confident girl who is studying for her Bachelors degree (and keeping this confidential from her paternal uncle due to his conservative thinking). She is also trying to discover the secret about here parents’ past for which her uncle despises her mother so much.

Soon all inhabitants at the Aastana get to know about her studies and Waasif arranges her marriage with his loyal servant “Sahabzaada Qaasim” played by Adnan Shah Tipu.

On the other hand, we see another track which is tackling the issues of a superstar actress “Shahana Javed”. We witness a glimpse into underlying issues in her domestic life. Shahana played by veteran Bushra Ansari and Javed played by Shabbir Jan are apparently a happily married couple, but realationship conflicts are apparent here. Javed is bitter about Shahana’s preoccupation with her showbiz life, and lack of commitment to their personal relationship.

Nadeem played by Asad Siddiqui is their only child and he also assumes, that aside form the minor squabbles, his parents are happy in their lives.

We also see Babar Ali in a very different yet interesting character “Parvez” who is the family friend of Shahana and Javed and unmarried as yet. He shares an affectionate relationship with Shahana, esp. when Javed ignores her.

Viewer comments:

Only watching for zara……bushra ansari side’s story is quite good but zara’s side story….I dont like it….just watching for bushra ansari ans zara noor😕💞2

Independent review

We think it’s too early to judge. We need to watch a few more episodes till the plot comes into its own and we do justice with our comments to the makers and writer!

The Intrigue

We also see a glimpse of Zoya Nasir playing Natasha who seems to be a very envious girl.

Will she affect the lives of Nadeem and Naushi?

Watch Zebaish for the cuteness factor in Zara Noor Abbas

We are excited that Zebaish is the first television drama featuring one of our favourite celebrity couples Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui together onscreen. Earlier we have seen them together in Chhalawa. Also Bushra Ansari is playing a vastly different role this time… we cannot recall her performing such a strong, intense character – a lot more emphasis on expressions and situations and lesser with the dialogues.

Over all the story holds a grasping appeal, and we want to watch what transpires next week.

Mahira Khan & Fahad Mustafa to come onscreen together very soon!

Why We recommend Zebaish?

The story is different from the usual, the direction and camera work is brilliantly executed, the production seems above par, and of course the presence of manjhay huway actors makes it a must watch for now. (Did we mention veteran actor Qavi)?

We are assuming that Shahana and Parvez might marry but it would be interesting to see how circumstances lead them towards each other. Also how Naushi and Nadeem will meet up and how Natasha will affect the story.

So lot’s to keep Zebaish going for now. If nothing else, watch it for the cuteness factor in Zara Noor Abbas, the onscreen presence in Bushra Ansari, the subtle performance from Shabbir Jan, and a story that promises to keep you hooked with devious twists and human conspiracies!

Zara Noor Abbas on all here Firsts!
