Indian TV shows and lockdown … that’s a good combination. You didn’t get it? Let us explain!

Ever since the lockdown was implemented, people have had mixed feelings about it. Some of them were not pleased with it, because they were accustomed to their fast-paced life, and also because of the massive dent it would leave on the economy. But a lot of people were just going with the flow, and still finding ways to occupy themselves. This was the time, when we actually realized the importance of entertainment in our lives through TV and Films.

Viewers suddenly found themselves with ample viewing time – imagine all those hours of socializing (not happening anymore) translated into extra hours of staying home. And thus began the online search for Dramas and Films to binge-watch. Now as the lockdown officially ended (for now), we were greeted with a new normal. More online shows to watch as the entertainment industry underwent a revolution of sorts!

5 Indian Shows that You Might Want To Give a Chance – Yes, and we have them for you!

1. Saath Nibhana Saathiya – Indian TV Show’s actress Kokilaben Is Never Forgotten!

Sath nibhana saathiya

You are a complete Saint, if you don’t know about Rasoday Mai Kaun Tha . After 3 years of calling it a wrap, Saathiya became the talk of the town again, through this amazing meme by an Indian musician Yashraj Mukhate. Saath Nibhana Saathiya is an Indian Soap that aired on Star Plus successfully for 8 years.

We will concede that this one’s a typical Indian Soap with annoying background music ‘Dhoom Taana Dhoom Taana‘ and the Kitchen Politics, but much better executed than the Ekta Kapoor ones. Having a fast-paced script, and great direction. It addressed a lot of social causes too.

What makes it a must-watch is the kind of characterization it serves to the audiences. All the characters are relatably human, we love them, and at times we hate them too, but in the end, they are a family. Due to the overwhelming response that it got on its return in lockdown, the Producers Rashmi Sharma, and Pavan Kumar decided to bring back Saathiya with a sequel, with the same cast i.e. Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Mohammad Nazim, Vandana Vithlanee, etc.

2. Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein

Ishaaron ishaaron mein

Love stories are a much loved genre on Television all around the world. A lot of people can relate to them. Many people admit to them as their Guilty Pleasures (much like a tattered Mills & Boons romance in the olden days), but they watch them (yes they do!)

Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein is one of the most different love stories we have ever watched. Another great production by Sony TV, set in the Chawri Bazaar, Old Delhi.

The story of a young lively boy Yogi is played out by Mudit Nayar who is deaf and dumb since birth. His disability is accepted by his family, and people around him, so he is kind of living a normal life, with an extraordinary personality.

He meets Gunjan, his uncle’s daughter who was a student of classical singing, but only until she meets with an accident and loses her vocal chords. Yogi and Gunjan fall for each other at first sight, and the love story progresses with a twist, brought on by Dr Pari – a young girl who falls for Yogi’s kind heart and lively nature. The drama which came on air towards the end of 2019 was halted due to Covid-19 in March. Thereafter, the makers announced that it will not resume. The last episode was aired on 31st March 2020.

Unfortunately no new episodes of the show have been aired since.

3. Ishq Mein Marjawan Season 1 – A Tragic Indian Show!

Indian show you must binge watch!

If you think that you have a Bechain streak or you always look for never-ending thrill, then this one is definitely for you. Produced by Yash Patnaik, and Mamta Yash Patnaik it is a mystery thriller drama series, which revolves around “Deep Raichand” – a rich and successful man, who is crazily in love with his wife “Tara Raichand”. Tara is a Psychopath and a Serial Killer. Whenever she knows that somebody is cheating on his/her spouse, she murders her, and Deep is the one who removes the evidence.

Deep one day, meets “Aarohi Kashyap” who is a very simple and innocent girl but a total look-alike of Tara. Deep decides to marry her, and embroil her in all of Tara’s murder cases. Henceforth, the story revolves around Aarohi’s revenge.

The production is first set in Simla – a beautiful hilly area in India, and then later on in Mumbai. The drama is shot very beautifully, and of course, the story is great. The cast includes Arjun Bijlani, Aalisha Panwaar, Nia Sharma, and Suchita Trivedi. The makers have brought us the second season of the series this year, it has a new revenge story but with the same name.

4. Tarak Mehta Ka Ultah Chashmah – Hilarious Indian TV Show To Binge Watch!

taarak mehta ka oolta chashma
best comedy show you should know!

Tarak Janubhai Mehta (late) was a Hindi – Gujarati, columnist and playwright. The show under review is based on his famous column
Gujarati series Dunya Ne Ondha Chashma. Which humorously addressed trending social issues, including corruption, inflation, and the life of a middle-class man. The popular comedy series was launched in 2008 and
continues to this day. The audience appeal is such, that the series is fully capable of proving its long-run worth – paisa vasool!

At first, it was hard to believe that every two or three weeks, people with depressive stories would connect with the show and reveal how they felt better after watching it.

Many people with mental and physical disabilities, who felt they had no reason to live, began to feel better, such was the impact on viewers – all credit goes to a 20-minute show!!! (exciting! isn’t it?) After watching it, you would never regret the time spent!

FUCHSIA Tip: Episodes from the first few years, are extremely hilarious and worth watching (we bet you know that already HAHA)

The show is set up in a society, which is located at Film City Road, Mumbai. Gokuldham Society is also referred to as Mini India. In it, different families from different cultures, languages, professions and religions live
together, celebrate each other’s festivals, and experience multiple social issues.

We all need some comic relief in life and this show deserves a shout out!?

5. Jaana Na Dil Se Door:

Starring Vikram Singh Chauhan, Shivani Surve, and Shashank Vyas – this show is a typical love story executed very beautifully. “Vividha
Kashyap” is the eldest daughter of a rich caterer “Kailash Kashyap” and is a very brave and sensible girl, who even manages her father’s outdoor catering business. Unaware of her father’s true nature,
she thinks that her father is an ideal husband and father, but actually, he has a dark side to him. He is wife beater and abuses her in every way.

On the other hand, “Atharva Sujaata” is a milkman, who lives with his mother. He hates his father for leaving her just after marriage. He is a sensible and sensitive man and a son of a strong woman.
Atharva meets Vividha and they both fall in love with each other.
