Rihanna in hot waters
Rihanna under spotlight after attacking Muslim’s religious sentiments

Rihanna – A world famous singer, actress and a business woman has recently not been releasing new music as she’s been focusing more on her lingerie company – Savage X Fenty. She recently held a Fashion show for her new makeup line Fenty Beauty in New York on 2nd October 2020. However, she received strong backlash as Twitter is outraged over her use of an Islamic Hadith that was played at the show as part of the lyrics of a song!

Rihanna Slammed For Using Islamic Hadith In A Song In Savage X Fenty Show!

The uber-famous actress is receiving backlash and accusations for using a Hadith (an Arabic saying from the teachings of the prophet Mohammad), in a song and allegedly disrespecting the values of Islam. People are furious over her actions and how she has hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.

What’s A Hadith & How Did Rihanna Used It?

Hadith are the writings of the Holy Prophet (words spoken by him). The Hadith are usually in Arabic but are translated into different languages to guide the Muslim community. These Hadith are the teachings of the Holy Prophet with accounts of his daily practice (the Sunna), which Muslims take very seriously & they are really dear to them! It’s a major source of guidance for Muslims apart from the Quran – considered of the utmost importance in their life.

The controversial song is called ‘Doom’– Created by a London-based producer named ‘Coucou Chloe’ more than two years ago! Rihanna picked up the song in her show. The song has verses of Hadith which translates into the signs of the Day Of Judgement (the end of times)

It wasn’t Rihanna’s First Time! She Did It Again!

In 2013, Rihanna had a photoshoot in front of a Mosque in Abu Dhabi. She had been asked to leave Abu Dhabi later on since she was hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims.

Fans Are Provoked By Her Recent Act -Consider It Unacceptable!

‘So disturbing how Rihanna and her team used a Muslim hijabi girl in their Fenty makeup line but cant even take the time to actually educate themselves on her religion! a line thats supposed to ”represent” diversity no less’ says a Twitter user.

Everyone needs to see this and spread this
This is how they have used a “HADITH” in a song it was played in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show
And Rihanna's models dancing on our #Hadith so disrespectful @rihanna

if you’re not a Muslim then dont tell us to not get offended.

For people still wondering what Rihanna did open this thread.

Rihanna really ran out of lyrics so she started using hadiths and did a photo shoot infront of a mosque? Our religion is not your aesthetic.

— B (@b__54x) October 5, 2020

Similarly, Not only Muslims, but Hindus, Jews & Christians are all enraged over her Unacceptable Behaviour!

Im not a muslim and what Rihanna did was more than disrespectful, whatever that religion means to you there is something called respect idk if yall heard about it
It’s inappropriate on so many levelss

— Si (@finnaslapyou) October 5, 2020

Tbh I'm really disappointed to see everyone ignoring what happened with Rihanna
Like just because according to you she's a "Kween" doesn't mean she can't do harm, and what she did was really disrespectful to Muslims

this isn’t even Rihanna’s first time, i’m disgusted, the level of disrespect is absurd, cancel her for good. #Rihannaisoverparty pic.twitter.com/xe32NqyNxo

However, there are people who are still defending her!

Is she aware of that at least ? I mean can we blame someone for not knowing what hadith is ? I think the blame should be put on the producter of the mix, if she's unaware, ofc

— 🇨🇾 Safsouf 🇱🇧 (@HamdanSafa) October 5, 2020

Looks like everyone… literally everyone’s furious at her as people are saying (she did it again!) – hurting Muslim sentiments and their religion. Therefore, people are blaming & bashing her for having full knowledge about the song since it was her collection shoot.

The song used models dancing to the song in lingerie … let that sink in … it has, for sure, evoked extreme anger among the audience!

How Are We Responsible?

As Islam spreads across the world, it’s reaching different homes in different ways and not always with the actual understanding of the text and knowledge that is pertinent to its message. It’s our responsibility to protect our religion and the Holy teachings of the Quran.

Perhaps Islamic Scholars should undertake the responsibility to educate non Muslims to prevent the misuse of the Quranic verses and Hadith. Should we start thinking about a copyright option whereby, no one can freely use or misuse the verses unless allowed to do so by a central scholarly body? Will this help secure & protect the message of Islam without it being misused in an insensitive (and/or ignorant) manner?

It’s a high time we realize that nobody should interfere or hurt the religious sentiments of any community.

Rihanna and her team is yet to revert on the backlash! As we write this, the singer of Doom has apparently, come out on Twitter to apologize for the lyrics. Developing story.

I want to deeply apologize for the offence caused by the vocal samples used in my song ‘DOOM'. The song was created using samples from Baile Funk tracks I found online. At the time, I was not aware that these samples used text from an Islamic Hadith. 1/2
