Fitrat – The first ball hasn’t been bowled yet. Or shall we say, the first episode is out today – BUT, the story line sounds a tad – dodgy? twisted? Give us a euphemism folks, so we don’t drown ourselves in lengthy explanations. The point is, skewed story lines like Jalan are making sensational dramas that top the ratings charts, and isn’t that what we want – ahem, as content creators?

The forerunner of the Pakistani entertainment industry, 7th Sky Entertainment, led by producers Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, is bringing another (exciting)? project for the viewers, titled ‘Fitrat’.
After producing blockbuster & award winning serials such as Daam, Doraha, Sheherzad, Mairtj ul Uroos, Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan, Mere Meherbaan, Mere Charagar, Roshan Sitara, Aik Pal, Noor e Zindagi, Tum Kon Piya, Khaali Haath, Hiddat, Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai, Gohar-e-Nayab, and Maan, 7th Sky is back with another exciting drama, Fitrat.
The new drama will go on-air on Geo Entertainment from 2nd November
Saboor Aly plays the lead, her drama Tum Ho Wajha is currently on air on HUM TV. Saboor’s acting prowess is no less than her sister Sajal’s although she may not have achieved equal stardom – yet! Her debut film role in the 2016 romantic comedy Actor in Law earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at Lux Style Awards.
‘Fitrat’ revolves around a young girl Fariha. She hails from a lower-middle-class family and aspires to achieve her dreams and goals by taking shortcuts.
Here’s the problem, or … the twist in the tale:
Unlike Fariha, her siblings Haris and Rafiya believe in hard work and honesty. In pursuit of these dreams, she marries Arbaz, who comes from a wealthy background. However, things roll over when Arbaz’s elder brother Shahbaz turns out to be Fariha’s first love.
‘Fitrat’ will depict how bad intentions and shortcuts might lead you to dreadful consequences!

Directed by Asad Jabal of Mera Rab Waris fame, Fitrat supports an ensemble cast. It includes Saboor Ali, Ali Abbas, Mirza Zain Baig, Zubab Rana, Sabiha Hashmi, Seemi Pasha, Saif-E-Hassan, Fazila Qazi, Farhan Ali Agha, Adila Khan, Aisha Gul, Kamran Jilani and Mariyam Nafees.
That’s not all, the story can also be traced to a certain Dilruba we watched earlier, where Hania Amir held two brothers under her gaze … confused much or are the Pakistani dramas in 2020 following each other in concentric circles?
We’ll reserve our judgement for now, but watch out for the first episode and let’s hope the story runs deeper than a brother in-law love connection!
