Bigg Boss is out with its 14th. season and despite the silent invasion of blockbuster content on our TV screens in Covid times, how does this reality show keep trending week over week, season after season? One viewer set out to answer this question for us!

Salman Khan’s biggest reality show!

Let me take you on my Bigg Boss journey!

Bigg Boss is a throwback to my early childhood – The Days when To Watch or Not to Watch was not my decision. I recall my family watching a TV show where scary people used to shout out hysterically, excitedly, locked in intense battle mode. It was wild, but it also made me curious enough to track down the reason behind it.

Why Do People Shout In Bigg Boss House? Did I Solve The Mystery?

This mission took a good four years for me. If I had simply decided to watch the show, I could have received my answer much earlier, but I chose to inquire from the viewers themselves. And this is what I heard: Sab Fake Hai, Scripted Hai … really? I questioned, but then a very genuine Bigg Boss follower responded Sab Ke Sab Pagal Hain… Poor me, I sure couldn’t find my answers here and finally I decided to watch it with all heart and soul.

My First Step In The BB House:

Jasmine Bhasin
Bigg boss ka dhamaka!

Three years ago I finally took my first step in the BB house (as a viewer OFC), and the reason which convinced me to do so was a familiar face. Akshara the very own television bahu from the classic Indian Soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai played by the one and only Hina Khan a.k.a Sher Khan.

She took on the most daring attempt a television actress (in India) has ever dared to do. She left the show at the peak of her career to change her image as a Sanskaari Bahu and stepped into the world of reality shows. I followed the entire season with so many emotions attached to it. So many contestants won my heart and one of them won the show. But Did I Find My Answers? Yes… to some extent I did.

When more than 10 people are kept caged in a house (which is not a home to them) it is very natural that their angels (and demons) will come to protect them in the worst situations they have to go through.

A game of strategy is easier than a game of mind. They are told that they cannot hit anybody at any cost (of course they do) but the heat of the moment is the only justification for it. They are kept under scrutiny of constant cameras and aware of the fact that they are being watched every single second is natural.

But another question raises here. Do the jhagras even matter to someone, or it just vanishes in thin air?

Bigg Boss’s Bigg Controversies:

After a very painful incident of Pratyusha Benerjee’s Suicide (who was BB7 contestant) Bigg Boss also went into discussions.

Season 11 was launched with a planted controversy. Two showbiz rivals, Producer Vikas Gupta and Actress Shilpa Shinde both were brought together and man! What happened next!

Controversies were manufactured every week. Actress Rashmi Desai’s love interest Arhaan Khan was brought as a wildcard entry and in just a week or two, the host Salman Khan exposed the reality of his hidden marriage and child in front of her, on camera.

Whether its Sidharth Shukla’s manhandling of Shehnaz Gill, or Shilpa Shinde’s harassment allegations on Sidharth, Bigg Boss always manages to trend on twitter (one way or another).

Is It All About Laraayis and Jhagraas?

Well, no, not really. We have seen some very beautiful love stories brightening up the house too.

Love In The Bigg Boss House:

Bigg Boss is a reality show where the contestants are supposed to maintain a balance between their minds and hearts. But when love happens, the heart goes wild and the mind goes missing. Some couples did not go long, but some of the Bigg Boss Jodis got married.

We witnessed Veena Malik, and Ashmit Patel’s cute relationship in Bigg Boss 4. But that did not last long. Indian Actress Sara Khan (who has also worked in Pakistani Dramas) was seen with Ali Merchant. They were married but later separated after one year of their marriage.

In terms of love, season 9 has been very fortunate, Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai who made their relationship public in that season got married. Prince Narula and Yuvika Chaudhry realized their feelings for each other and they also got married. Model Rochelle Rao and actor Keith Sequeira fell for each other and are also a happily married couple now.

Last season was controversies galore. Love was in the air as well for Paras Chhabra and Mahira Sharma. And who can forget the most beautiful relationship of Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaz Gill who are still referred to as Sidnaaz.

Bigg Boss has returned on television with its 14th season and a promise to fight against the boredom of 2020 with continuous entertainment – will it be more of the same planned onscreen gimmicks to grab viewer’s attention or will we witness organic relationships growing, and some, breaking as well?

In a world of Covid, what counts as entertainment has become a struggle for viewers and content creators. As long as a show is entertaining masses all around the world, working hard every year to make its content bigger and better, its worth praising and at least giving a chance without passing any judgement. Some might not agree, but this is what I have learnt from my experiences.
