Phaans replaces Mushk on Saturdays. Episode 1 dropped and audiences watched with great anticipation as Zara Noor Abbas & Shahzad Shaikh gave us entirely new avatars!

And woah! We weren’t expecting such a happening episode! From Hashim’s Jamni Kurta to Samad’s roving eye…the episode seems to have hit the right notes on all counts.
Meet the characters
Shahzad Shaikh as Saahil won our hearts with a performance that spoke volumes! His demeanour was neither too over-stated nor under-stated. Shahzad seems to have found the key to our hearts in a role that is intensely challenging yet, if done to perfection, intensely rewarding!
Zara Noor Abbas as Zeba, lit up the screen, especially when she & Saahil came together – heart-touching chemistry there! Her character spoke plain, simple & heartfelt, with no added frills, just as it should be. We didn’t witness any OTT airs, not for a moment did we believe she was anything BUT the young girl who is looking for a brighter future through hard work & achievable dreams. How refreshing was that!

Sami Khan, with his signature screen presence of course, is throwing shades of Mikaal from Dulhan. Who else matched the 2 characters, or was it just us? We’re sure they will grow into completely diverse roles but first impressions are hard to beat!
It is refreshing to see Yashma Gill in a new role. She has managed to shrug off Shanze from Pyar Ke Sadqay & we’re loving her as Hafsa! Yashma sported a graceful wardrobe. Muted expressions and a believable performance made us want to watch more in the coming episodes!

Why we’re rooting for Phaans
It is heartening to anticipate another Pakistani drama highlight pertinent social issues which are deemed as taboo in our society.
The production itself speaks attention to fine detail: From Zara Noor Abbas’s simple, girl-next-door attire & hairdo to Yashma Gill’s elegant look. Shahzad Shaikh’s wardrobe was also thoughtfully put together. The dholki scenes, baarish in the green lawn and the half-constructed house, as well as the slick edits all came together to create a quality viewing experience for us, the viewers. Director Ahmed Kamran & writer Samina Ejaz have set the stage for a riveting watch in this very absorbing drama season!
