Pakistani women have yet again, broken the glass ceiling. 5 of them have just been appointed grid workers in a breakthrough move by K-Electric.

Female Technicians? Hell Ya!
The taboo that ‘women can’t work in technical fields’ is finally broken!
Three women have been appointed to ensure smooth working of the Gulshan Grid Station – Saba Saleem, Neelma Nawab & Tuba Khan, while Saadia Sehar & Alisha Aman Ansari are handling work at the Qayumabad Grid Stati
Convincing The Family
Neelma reported how it raised an issue of safety & concern in her family, but she later convinced them that women can also join ‘such a technical field.‘ Once the family was convinced, these women were ready to rock in what was, till now, considered a man’s domain.

Making History!
This is the first time in the country’s history that women are appointed grid officers in the power sector. This move is sure to pave the way for more women to opt for technical fields.
“There is an assumption that women cannot do work in many fields, thus closing doors for them, but as you see, I am standing here at the grid station,”
Saba Saleem
