Farhad uttered a baddua (curse) for Mahi – subjecting her to lifelong guilt – and audiences questioned why – why would you curse someone you love? – Writer Hashim Nadeem explains

We asked writer Hashim Nadeem of Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 to shed some light on the tumultuous nature, the inner frenzy, the suffering of both Mahi & Farhad – and some more insights into their actions.
This is what he had to tell us
“Lovers never curse their beloved

And when did a curse need expression in words…who knows, perhaps Farhad too, is victim to a silent curse…from Naheed or Sajal? Hearts have been broken there as well.
Farhad has yet to reach a sublime state of love
when the beloved is blessed despite breaking his heart. Farhad’s love is not yet mature enough to allow his beloved’s helplessness to supersede his own ego & desire. And this curse has not really originated from Farhad, but from his ego. He will learn gradually – time has merely held up a mirror to his inner lover, but for the first time.
If Mahi’s brief 4 day flirtation was wrong, then Farhad’s curse is also unjustified
to leave Mahi with a sense of guilt.
This saga of a lover’s ego & realisation of wrongdoing is ‘Khuda Aur Mohabbat’ – A story like no other.
And let it be known, that all love stories are never one & the same.” – Hashim Nadeem

And THAT, dear readers, is why we must not read the same love story in every heart that desires. We are yet to discover Farhad’s journey, and Mahi’s as well… so let’s reserve our opinion till we watch the next few episodes of Khuda Aur Mohabbat – sometimes, it pays to read the novel?
