#LSAForPakistan – Have You Cast Your Vote Yet?
The Lux Style Awards have been championing established and emerging Pakistani talent for the past 20 years, yes you heard that right! Over that time period, we’ve witnessed some breathtaking red carpet moments and we’ve been introduced to stars that have gone on to create illustrious careers doing what they love – such as Atif Aslam and Jal the band. So contrary to popular belief, the LSA isn’t just for the fashion-savvy or the big wigs in the TV industry, it’s an event that spans across multiple genres and brings the Pakistani audience the best of what Pakistan has to offer.

Keeping The Lux Style Awards Legacy Alive
It’s no small feat for the Lux Style Awards to have been the longest-standing award show platform in Pakistan with its 20-year run. Since its conception in 2002, LSA has been the only truly neutral award show in the industry with an independent and impartial jury and Board of Governors. This year the Board of Governors include Aamna Isani (Fashion BoG), Raheel Rao (TV BoG), Malahat Awan (Music BoG) and Hasan Zaidi (Film BoG).
Who I’m Voting For This Year
While I won’t divulge too much information about who I’ll be voting for in each category, because hey, I don’t want to sway public opinion – I do have to give shoutouts to a select few nominations that made 2021 a fun year for me, and most of us if I’m being honest.
Abdullah Kasumbi For Best Video Director

The first person I’m voting for is Abdullah Kasumbi for directing Hassan Raheem’s ‘Joona‘ music video, everything about it is *chef’s kiss* and it was hands-down THE song during the lockdown. Hassan Raheem casually vibing to his song at a grocery store in Karachi is all of us in our rooms at 2 a.m. dancing like no one’s watching. Plus, the concept was fresh, simple and I’m assuming cost-effective. Most importantly, the fact that it resonated with the target audience so well has to put it at the top!
RASTAH For Best Emerging Talent

RASTAH caught my eye back in 2020 when they launched their block print appliqué hoodie; it was everything my little heart desired but sadly I was (and still am) too broke to get it. It was/is in my eyes perfection and I’ve been following their journey ever since. However, it was when Riz Ahmed wore one of their pieces on TV (when he was nominated for the Oscars) that the internet blew up! With it’s eclectic blend of East meets West, RASTAH rapidly made its way into the Pakistani fashion lexicon and by the looks of things, it’s here to stay!
20 Years Of LSA – Not Just An Awards Show
LSA is not just an awards show. It has become a moment of national pride, showcasing the best of what Pakistan has to offer and promoting a positive image of Pakistan on an international level by conducting awards shows internationally – Dubai (2004) and Malaysia (2007).
Moreover, the Lifetime Awards Category at LSA is one that showcases the pride of the nation. Every year, the LSA honours our industry icons by presenting them with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. The first-ever recipient of the award was none other than Madam Noor Jehan (2001) and over the years numerous artists and writers such as Mehdi Hassan (2005), Shabnam (2018) and Anwar Maqsood (2019) have made the list.
So while the clock started in 2002 with the first ever Lux Style Awards, we have much to celebrate in these past 20 years – and much more to look ahead to in the next 20!
