If we were missing some comic relief, Dananeer as Syed Sidra in Sinf e Aahan comes to the rescue!

But that’s not all you get.

Although the teaser drop for Sidra aka Dananeer shows a plump, carefree young girl who struggles to scale walls and find her balance on the tight rope, gobbles down sugar pastries and carries the super (over) confidence of an 18 something – what strikes as particularly heartfelt is a role that many young girls can resonate with.

You see it’s very easy to admire Arzoo, Rabiya, Shaista, Mahjabeen & Pariwesh, but not easy to be them.

Sidra Will Inspire Others To Believe

Now Sidra is a completely different ballgame! Syeda Sidra brings to the table, a raw, unpolished version of the girl next door (whom we all are, or have been) who loves the ‘sweet’ things in life, is challenged with physical activity, let alone walk a tight rope, who might pretend to be very ‘cool’, but her insides shout out terror when scaling anything higher than a 5 feet high wall – yet, Sidra will inspire others to believe. These young girls too, who might be not so agile, not so physically fit, not so disciplined with regards to diet, can also aspire to join the army now, thanks to young Syeda Sidra, whose journey they can follow in Sinf e Aahan.

How the Army will help support her journey remains to be seen, but we bet many young girls sitting before the TV screen are curious to know that if she can, perhaps we can too?

Kudos To The Writer!

A shout out to Umera Ahmed for penning a believable character with humour. We know she will walk her own journey, different from the rest. She will encourage a sense of sisterhood, as her trials become too large for the pastries she adores – the scene in which her weeping is supported by fellow cadets, her inability to pass a hurdle, even her hijab-clad head as she reads a wazeefa under her breath bring us moments of love and believability.

You see, every young girl is not athletic, disciplined at eating right, or as brave as the army wants her to be, but every young girl who wants to achieve something can try – Sinf e Aahan is showing us just that through Sidra’s story – that it’s going to be tough, perhaps tougher for some than others, but you gotta try!

Dananeer’s debut role might just give her more fan love because we surely expect that young girls all over Pakistan will be rooting for her to win!

Sinf e Aahan is an ISPR project, written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Nadeem Baig. The drama has been produced by Six Sigma and Next Level Entertainment. It is currently airing on ARY Digital.
