PSL is all the rage nowadays. It is in full swing and fans are making the most of it, so are our players. However, last night’s match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi took a sour turn (according to Twitterati) when a video clip showed Haris Rauf slapping his counterpart Kamran Ghulam after the latter dropped a catch. The clip garnered mixed reactions from fans. Some found it “distasteful” and not in line with a cricketer’s persona, while others believe it was all in good spirit, and both the players are actually really good friends.

We have gathered both sides of the argument (read: tweets) to give you a better picture of what actually happened. Scroll down to find the tweets!

“Haris Rauf you are not playing street cricket now, this is not the way to behave with your teammates, if if it is just a joke, Kamran Ghulam is a super star too, he has self esteem too. PCB should fine Haris rauf #HarisRauf“
“The audacity of slapping a teammate on the ground in front of millions of people needs to be curbed. Heavy punishment should be given to #HarisRauf“

A Hand Push Or A Slap?

Should Haris Make An Official Statement?
Some Aren’t Happy That Haris Only Got A Warning
“hey fined imad wasim for exchanging words with gurbaz , fined jason roy ,fined ben cutting and sohail tanvir for their bad behavior , and warned #HarisRauf like seriously ?? he should be banned for pushing slapping whatever his teammate , this was the baddest behaviour i guess”
Fans Come To His Defence
“He wasn’t slapped deliberately. Later he hugged him❤️ please stop making senseless controversies against him. #HarisRauf”
Some are arguing that players when they live together under strict discipline during tours and matches, (especially with the ongoing covid bubble that takes its toll on players) naturally develop a camaraderie however, not everyone watching would understand that. Hence, it would help if both the players came out ideally clarified the situation and give an official statement. So in the future, even though Kamran Ghulam might have taken this as light banter, if events were to repeat themselves in the future with a different set of players, (those who might not be okay with it), they able to step up & speak up.
