The multi-talented, Zoya Nasir is a beautician, YouTuber, and actress. After working as a beautician in the US, she returned to Pakistan when she was offered a lead role in the drama serial ‘Hania’ – which marked her debut in the Pakistani drama industry. And we have been enjoying her presence on screen since then.
She has worked in several drama serials including ‘Deewangi’, ‘Zebaish’, ‘Dhoop Ki Deewar’, and ‘Dobara.’ Currently, we are watching her in drama serials ‘Mere Humsafar’, ‘Badzaat’ as well as ongoing Ramazan drama, Chaudhry & Sons.
Recently, she sat down with FUCHSIA magazine to talk about her acting projects, life, work, and her co-stars! Read below to know what she said!
How She Got Into Acting
Zoya grew up amidst film sets and would get inspired by her father’s work. Zoya’s father, Adeeb Nasir is a renowned Pakistani scriptwriter who has lent his words to countless Lollywood films. However, she chose to follow in her mother’s footsteps and became a beautician. While working for ARY’s film festival in New York, she was asked by Sonia and Salman Iqbal to pursue acting. It was then that she decided to switch careers and made her debut in the drama serial ‘Hania.’
However, Zoya believes that one should not jump right into lead roles and instead, gain experience first. She said that she puts in a conscious effort to explore all genres and will do a lead role when she thinks the time is right.
Zoya wasn’t offered a script for six months after she did ‘Hania.’ She gave an insight into the industry and said that it is very unpredictable and a lot of genuine people are forced to not be themselves. She even talked about how she was told that she doesn’t have the face of a lead actress!
She also shared that she realized the impact her roles have when she had a severe panic attack and her mother took her to the hospital and there, a woman comforted her by referring to her as her character Hania.
Zoya talked about the many challenges she has faced in her life and how she overcame them and came out stronger.
During the interview, she broke her silence on her divorce. She said she was 19 when she got married and went to the US. However, even after trying really hard, things couldn’t work out and when she felt there were no other options left, she decided to take a stand for herself and part ways.
