Fans are divided after watching Ahad Raza Mir perform an intimate scene in the newly released Netflix show, Resident Evil.
I assure you as I write this, NO audience in the world can be more generous when it comes to complementing its stars and celebrities than Pakistanis, but is the praise and unfathomable loyalty dependent on the stars abiding by the societal norms established by the fans?

Just yesterday, fans were over the moon as Resident Evil streamed on Netflix which marked the nation’s heartthrob debut in the world of Hollywood and Netflix. As everyone rejoiced and celebrated and claimed that they could not be prouder of Ahad Raza Mir, the tables soon turned and there was an influx of tweets bashing the star.
Now, one would ask … why did this happen? Well, we have the answer. As thousands of Pakistanis streamed Resident Evil on Netflix to spot their favourite star, they came across something unexpected! A beloved Pakistani star performing an intimate scene onscreen and to dot the i’s, kissing a girl on screen. Subsequently, we can all imagine what transpired next. Some fans declared a verdict that it was unacceptable and Ahad should be ‘ashamed’ while others took a more neutral stance and sided with the ‘Hum Tum‘ actor.
Fans rejoiced to see Ahad in ‘Resident Evil’ after seeing him last in the Ramzan drama ‘Hum Tum’ and couldn’t stop praising him & rightfully so!
Ahad literally nailed the character of Arjun Batra . It was such a treat to watch him man . It didn’t feel like his Hollywood debut man . I’m feeling so proud to be his fan man . Now when will I watch you onscreen again ??? @ahadrazamir
Binge watching an entire season only to see your favourite star? True fan spotted right there!
This was my first time watching whole season in 1 day. #AhadXResidentEvilNetflix #AhadRazaMir #ArjunBatra
Here goes the bashing
Sak Theek Ta Swi Us Kissing Scene Ky Usbaat Py is Ko Sharam Ani chiye
Kare b to kia howa? Hollywood he bhai ye to hoga
Soon, his fans came to his rescue and assured their support!
Hi Ahad strong mir, don’t you worry about what haters say. They can’t see anyone reaching success so they like to hate on them cause that’s the only thing they can do. #AhadXResidentEvilNetflix #AhadRazaMir
Even Fawad Khan Kissed On Screen In Kapoor & Sons, Was He Also Bashed Or This Special Hate Is Only Reserved For #AhadRazaMir . #AhadXResidentEvilNetflix
#AhadXResidentEvilNetflix It’s good that he got to that, but the bold scene let’s say it’s okay. But the rating and the way u guys saying as he did something super special doesn’t make sense. Atleast talk about things as much they are deserved to be talked.
Some logical and astute arguments shaped right here. Neutral fans mark your attendance!
You are absolutely right! @amaansbae None supporting that particular scene at all. It was wrong and it will be wrong for everyone it doesn’t matter if that person is she or he. But hating doesn’t make you right either!#ahadrazamir #AhadxResidentEvilNetflix @ahadrazamir
We are a nation who loves to criticize their own artists.. People were dying to see pakistani artist working on Netflix. Do you guys have any idea about its policies and all??? Now why you are criticizing them on some kind of achievement well done Ahad. #AhadXResidentEvilNetflix
It is unfortunate that we constantly put the most talented individuals in our nation under the radar. Ahad Raza Mir is not the first one and certainly, he will not be the last. The trolling that he went through within twenty-fours of the stream is deplorable and sheds a negative light on our country and how we value our stars. Does this mean that we should go ahead and normalize intimate scenes and even promote them? Absolutely not! But does this also mean that we turn our faces away and consider it ‘shameful’ and a heinous act if we find one of our own promoting or doing something we are not a big fan of?
The first thought that came to my mind when I saw all the trolling of Ahad Raza Mir was a feeling of overwhelming gratitude…yes you heard me right…gratitude that it was a male actor and not a female one because we can only imagine what she would go through! I predict an outright cancel, tweets and comments bashing her which will be (I assure you) multiple times higher than Ahad’s!
How Should You Expect Progression When The Only Thing You Accept Is Expurgation?
We can TRY to be more tolerant and more accepting of the content produced in the country and also the content that our actors choose to work on abroad and here, I rest my case there is a fine line between Art and what is morally and socially responsible, this debate is not new, but in Pakistan, where actors continue to be under a glaring fan radar, perhaps the onus lies on us, the audiences, to go easy on our stars – they also give us many moments to be proud of!
