Today marks one year since Pakistan witnessed the gruesome murder of 27-year-old Noor Mukkadam. The incident sent shockwaves throughout the country & it took 7 long months to sentence the main accused, Zahir Jaffer to death.
Today, Twitter is remembering Noor Mukkadam, her parent’s insurmountable pain & the unspeakable crime Noor fell victim to, which God knows neither Noor nor anybody else in this world deserves.

Noor Mukkadam was brutally raped, murdered, and beheaded by Zahir Jaffer on 20th July 2021 in Islamabad. An FIR was submitted soon after by the victim’s father and Zahir was arrested on the day of the murder. Many came out in Noor’s support and demanded the strictest punishment for the accused. As of now, the main accused was sentenced to death in February 2022, along with his household staff Iftikhar and Jameel who were both co-accused in the case — were sentenced to 10 years in jail, while all others, including Zahir’s parents and TherapyWorks employees, were acquitted. The verdict was bittersweet as many were of the view that his parents and TherapyWorks employees should have gotten some sort of punishment instead of getting off scot-free.
