The sequel of the box office hit, ‘Joker’ is in the cards and Warner Bros. Pictures have confirmed that ‘Joker 2’ will debut on the big screen on October 4, 2024 – exactly five years after the first film was released. The sequel will mark the return of Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s notorious foe. Alongside him, we will be seeing none other than Lady Gaga who is expected to play the Clown Prince of Crime’s co-conspirator Harley Quinn!

‘Joker’ was originally supposed to be a standalone film, but after the R-rated movie generated more than $1 billion globally, won ‘The Golden Lion’ at the Venice Film Festival, and earned 11 Academy Award nominations, including best picture and director and Joaquin Phoenix won the Oscar, the movie inevitably leaned towards a sequel.
‘Joker’ is a 2019 American psychological thriller film directed and produced by Todd Phillips, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. The film, based on DC Comics characters, stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and provides a possible origin story for the character. Set in 1981, it follows Arthur Fleck, a failed clown and aspiring stand-up comedian whose descent into insanity and nihilism inspires a violent countercultural revolution against the wealthy in a decaying Gotham City.

A Little Insight Into ‘Joker 2’
Todd Phillips will be directing the sequel and will also be co-writing the screenplay with Scott Silver. ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ will be released in cinemas on Oct. 4, 2024, and is expected to be a musical. The title of the film, ‘Folie à Deux’ is a French term that is defined as an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family.
We cannot wait to see the unraveling of two characters of the DC Universe: Thomas Wayne a.k.a Joker and Harley Quinn in more depth and hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel for DC fans who previously were quite upset after ‘Batgirl’ was shelved.
