We recently sat down with Zainab Shabbir aka Hareem from Mushkil to have Gup Shup about her ongoing drama Mushkil, on finding love as a successful working woman, and a lot more. Scroll down to read our conversation.

Zainab Shabbir on Hareem in Mushkil
Marina Khan wanted someone who looked innocent so that people felt for her. My mother and friends told me that I was horrible with Saboor.
Marina Khan had told me that I would have to be seductive in Hareem’s role. There are times that she’s touching him, she keeps doing it and he’s moving away and she’s harassing him. I was thinking that if this happened with a girl, people would react even more. I would have to pacify him by getting a bit tactile. It was uncomfortable for me. I don’t know if girls do it, but I thought it was very disrespectful, it’s not right.
On Hareem’s Wardrobe
On the wardrobe, wearing nightwear, etc and yet it was done tastefully, did not feel it was done distastefully, it was handled carefully, families could sit together and watch and my friends also could watch, I didn’t feel uncomfortable.
Is Our Society Accepting Towards Successful Women?
If a girl is successful in her career, she will get proposals from people who will feel, oh, she can earn money! This is a reality I felt it and I’ve seen it. This is a general perception. They’re not behind you, they’re behind your money and your career.
Even now in 2022, it is considered unusual that a girl has bought herself a car or a home. This mindset still exists.
Her Fears As A Working Woman
“My fears are that my in-laws or my future husband don’t have problems with my work. They might agree now, but they might change their minds later. This is my fear,” revealed Zainab,
