Shaheen Shah Afridi has been trending since yesterday because of his knee injury and him not being able to play in the T20I World Cup next month. He couldn’t play in the recently held Asia Cup tournament either. Recently, cricketer Shahid Afridi revealed to a media outlet that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not been bearing Shaheen’s medical expenses in England. He stated that Shaheen had gone to England at his own expense and also contacted the doctor there himself who Shahid Afridi had arranged from Pakistan.

PCB, which typically does cover medical expenses for its players’ physical fitness, has not released an official statement as of now. However, Shahid Afridi’s statement has sparked a debate on the internet. While some are arguing that Shaheen, being one of the top players in the Pakistan Cricket Team earns enough to pay for his treatment himself, others are disappointed at PCB (if the news is correct, that is). To top it off, the news of Ramiz Raja staying in Birmingham for 52 days on PCB’s expenses has added fuel to the fire.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi went to England on his own. He got his ticket by himself. I arranged a doctor for him and he contacted the doctor. PCB haven’t done anything for him” Shahid Afridi.
Netizens Express Their Disappointment
“If this true than It’s a shocking How PCB is treating his generational Talent”
“Awfully sad. Pakistan’s best bowler, top cricketer keliye koi support nahi from his own board? What a shame! Is this how top players are respected & treated! Imagine the plight of other players.”
“Thank god he took decision on his own they would have taken him everywhere and he would not been available for world cup . This is not how u handle not only pakistan best bowler but one of best bowler in world without any doubt . Will pcb even be asked question .”
“Shameful… If this is the situation about star cricketer like shaheen forget the situation of low profile players….”
The Other Side Of The Argument
“PCB is already paying him alot…So what if he has gone at his own…what’s the issue”
“So?he gets big paychecks he’s not playing for free.”
