Yes, all did not change, some thing stayed the SAME in the past decade and we’re loving it!

If you read our previous article, we gave you a list of things that have changed this decade. Life changes and there are new inventions every day. Be it gadgets, food, or simply habits. Change is definitely pleasant, but there are some things that are evergreen, and stayed the same over the past 10 years, and we don’t see them changing in the next 10 either.

Here’s a list of things we were glad to see stay the same throughout this decade

1. Cricket Fever – We’re still Lovin’ It!

cricket, pakistan. india, trophy
Watching a LIVE cricket match has its own charm, even for those who aren’t cricket fanatics.

No matter how much time passes the love for cricket that Pakistanis share, will never die. Especially those matches against India where everyone gets riled up because India ne haarna he hai kyunke yeh tou humari zindagy ka maqsad hai. Jokes apart, sitting amongst the audience of an exciting cricket match has its own charm, the josh, the jazba, will always stay the same -even for those who aren’t cricket fanatics.

2. Childhood Snacks – Ek Packet Chili Mili Tau Banta Hai!

snacks, chips, jellies, biscuits
Healthy lifestyle & Chili Mili? – Sab kuch Chalta hai!

Thinking about childhood snacks is pure nostalgia, but it really doesn’t have to be, because we may have stopped eating them, but they still exist in the market. In the midst of growing up, we became health conscious and stopped eating junk, but a treat once in a while is zaroori. Things like Feast Ice Cream, Bubble Your Name,  Chili Mili and Cocomo now come in party packs, but let’s be real, woh humne akele he khana hai. Unfortunately for us, not every snack producer introduced larger packets and are still very low key, like Top Pops, Cheery Balls and Party Slims, but nonetheless we still love them!

3. The Love For Books – Kindle is Kindle but a Book is a BOOK!

Book, coffee, reading
The fresh, woody aroma between the pages of a new book transforms the reading experience completely.

No matter how many books we download on our phones or Kindle, it just cannot replace the feel of an actual book. The fresh, woody aroma between the pages of a new book just transforms the reading experience completely. Plus there’s only so long you can stare at a screen without yours eyes being affected. Books will remain our go-to ultimate haven, no gadget can replace them completely.

4. Desi Khaana – Biryani Rules!

biryani, karhai, nehari, bun kebab
Nothing can beat the original desi food. We all love eating because biryani doesn’t need to change!

We Pakistanis take pride in our food especially our Biryani, Nehari, Bun Kebabs, Karhai and just about everything else. There are definitely so many new restaurants out there, with so many new dishes. From steaks to burgers, but nothing can beat the high of original desi khana we all love eating because biryani shouldn’t change for any one – our one true love stays the same over the years!

5. Chai Chahiye – the old faithful!

chai, pouring, kettle
Shaam ki chai with dada dadi has its own charm, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up, chit-chat and even gossip with them.

Chai is probably one of the fundamentals of Pakistani culture. Kuch aur ho na ho, ek cup chai tau hamesha banti hai! No household can survive without their morning and evening chai. Shaam ki chai with dada dadi has its own charm, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up and even gossip with them. Not just dada dadi, but friends, siblings and parents are also the most ideal chai partners – and our love for chai isn’t going anywhere!

6. Selfies – Hate ’em or love ’em – you WILL click ’em!

selfie, phone, smile
We still enjoy taking a selfie or two at every occasion because snap fam ko dikhae bagair kaam kaise chalega?

At some point or the other we all worked on making our selfie game strong, the pouting and the peace signs were an essential, we may have grown out of the posing (Thank God!) but we still enjoy taking a selfie or two at every occasion because snap fam ko dikhae bagair kaam kaise chalega?

7. Shahrukh Khan and Humayun Saeed still deliver the magic!!

Humayun Saeed, Shahrukh Khan
Time has passed and their hair has grayed, but they will always have a special place in our hearts!

Shahrukh Khan and Humayun Saeed are two of the most brilliant actors we’ve seen in a while. We all grew up watching them and believe it or not, it’s been a decade of us doing so. We may not realize it, but they’ve grown old too. Time has passed and their hair has grayed, but they will always have a special place in our hearts!

Thinking about all these things has left us feeling nostalgic, we love how something stay the same – new decade, new year and all is great, but kuch baatein waisay hi rahen tau life is good – Just like old friends! So keep on sipping that chai, munch on Cocomo, and watch SRK or Humayun Saeed (whoever gives you the feels), and fill your next decade with love, laughter and life!
