Khi Eat is probably one of the most awaited food festivals that has come to Pakistan, it has become a necessary part of winter in Karachi, since the pleasant weather and the long lines just have their own charm. It also gives us a chance to try out new kinds of food we might not have otherwise, because – what are Karachi ki sardian without a deliciously satisfying food adventure and then, jab aa gaye hain, tou khaa he letay hain. Considering it’s a place you spend just about the whole day, there are some essentials we think everyone should have in their bags in order to make the day breeze through!
Here’s a list of things you don’t want to leave behind
1. Water Bottle

Even though water is available at Khi Eat stalls, it’s best to carry a small water bottle with you because: who wants to wait in those long lines just for a bottle of water? We’d rather wait for some of that mouthwatering food.
2. Hand Sanitizer

Hands dirty? Of course they are – hand sanitizer to the rescue! Since Karachi Eat is held in a park, we are bound to have dusty and dirty hands, and who wants to eat like that? Not us! Sanitizer is extremely important to keep those germs from entering our bodies!
3. Tissue and wet wipe packets

Got sauce on your clothes? Is that even a question? Iske bagair Khi Eat ka experience poora he nahi hota. Keep tissues and wipes on hand to make sure that outfit you spent all morning deciding on, stays fresh and selfie worthy!
4. Band-Aids

We cannot stress enough on how zaroori Band-Aids are. Chalte phirte minor cuts sabko lag he jatay hain, and we want you to be prepared. Band-Aids in your bag will keep you from roaming around the already large and crowded park in search of first aid.
5. Nuts

We all get a little snacky especially when we’re waiting in line for so long. Take a pack of nuts to keep the hunger pangs away. But be sure not to spoil your appetite since there is so much delish food you don’t want to miss out on.
6. Power bank

If you don’t take selfies at an event, did it really happen? Don’t forget your power bank to keep your phone on, to take countless selfies and pictures of food, and most importantly, to contact your loved ones to ensure your safety.
7. Sun Block

Dhoop mai poora din khara hona hai tou suntan bhi hona he hai. It’s best to be prepared and put on lots of sunblock before leaving the house so carry it in your bag for any sun-related emergencies
8. Deodorant

We cannot stress on this enough. Khi Eat might be all about food, but it’s also about standing in long queues, and with Shabana who does not care about personal hygiene? Blech. Please do the people around you a favor and take deodorant with you and use it whenever you feel necessary.
9. Lip gloss/ lipstick

Khanay k sath lipstick na khaen? Aisay tou hou he nahi sakta. We all know the feeling of eating our lipstick from the middle and then frantically trying to fix it somehow. Girls, save yourself the trouble and just take your lipstick or lip gloss with you to avoid any makeup malfunctions.
10. Hair Tie/ Clip

We all love wearing our hair down but that sudden breeze of fresh air can make you look from 100 to 0 in a matter of seconds. Your best bet? Be prepared. Take a hair tie or clip in your bag just in case you need to tame those gorgeous locks!
11. Change of small notes

5000 k note ka khulla karwana ek alag he masla hai, save yourself the trouble and take cash in change of small notes, ideally 50s and 100s, maybe even 500s. That way you won’t have to wait while vendors flail around trying to find your change.
12. Bag/ Tupperware for leftovers

This one is so important. We all throw away leftover food which can easily be taken home or given to the less fortunate. Be sure to take plastic bags or compact Tupperware with you to carry your leftovers. You can take the boxes home or give the bags to someone you find on the way. Be mindful and reduce food waste!
These are the things we feel are mostly needed at Khi Eat, there are other things you can take depending on your situation. Mothers can perhaps take an extra change of clothes or a milk bottle for their children. Is there anything you want to add to the list? Comment and let us know down below!
