Nowadays, when television is serving up a variety of content and viewers have a multitude of shows of many different genres to pick (and diss, oops, we meant, miss!), a drama written by the amazing “Faiza Iftikhar” and Directed by the talented Director “Ali Faizan” – “Bandhay Ek Dour Se” seems to be doing very well.

Audiences are loving the story line and relishing the performances. Although many of them think that the drama deserves more popularity, the story is quietly making its place in the hearts of viewers. So what are the reasons for its huge acceptance among the audiences?

A Family Drama

In times when social causes and complex human psychological disorders is a recurrent theme for many dramas, Bandhay Ek Dour Se revisits the ‘Joint Family Setup’.

The ‘Saas-Bahu’, ‘Devrani-Jethani’ KitPits are written with heavy joint gharaana undertones. The repartees come fast and furious, leaving viewers in peals of laughter at times, and at times with a smile on their lips. And THAT is precisely why people are loving each and every episode of Bandhay Aik Dour Se.

Has Faiza Iftikhar hit a SIX with this one?

Comic Relief

Where there is a dose of reality, there should always be some comic relief. Faiza Iftikhar thrives on giving us off-the-cuff dialogues that resonate with the audiences – they tickle the funny bone and subtly drive home a point, all at once – such is the magic of her words onscreen! Viewers avidly look forward to the witty and (blatant) exchange between Razia and Najia Bhabhi as the highlight of the drama.

Great Casting and Performance

One of the reasons of the popularity of Bandhay Ek Dour Se is the casting, which is on point. Every character fits into his role, and that is what a viewer wants. Earlier, some of the viewers were not happy with Ahsan Khan’s role, as they thought that he’s playing a character who’s a tad young for his age. But, as the story progressed, Ahsan has convinced us that he is the perfect choice for Umar.

Also it is a comeback play for Ushna Shah on Geo TV after “Rubaru Ishq Tha” which was aired two years ago. And of course, the presence of veterans Samina Ahmed, Saba Faisal, Saba Hamid, and Noor ul Hassan, makes it more beautiful.

Relatable Characters

Bandhay Aik Dour Se Cast
Roshni’s dynamics and struggles are very realistic.

The biggest reason of its success is the characterizations in the play itself. The characters are written so well, that everybody can relate to it. The ‘Bechari Heroine’ of the play, who is supposed to cry every week is not doing it here. Maheen played by Ushna Shah is seen as a sensible girl who has on very friendly terms with her cousin, (who is now her husband) Umer played by Ahsan Khan. Even the negative character, Roshni (played aptly by Hina Altaf) is a very relatable character.

Roshni’s dynamics and struggles are very realistic. How she deals with them is what gives her a negative role in the story.

A Well-Knitted Plot

The story of Bandhay Ek Dour Se is not a new one. It has many elements, which made us question: ‘Why This?’ often enough. From the typical ‘Family Politics’, to ‘Cousin Marriages’, to ‘Two Friends vying for one Man’ – the story might have played out in earlier dramas, but good execution, direction and a well-established plot holds viewers’ breath every week.

A well-written and relatable script script makes Bandhay Aik Dour Se one of the most engaging plays running on prime time presently.

Despite the complex story line littered with multiple misunderstandings (a bit like Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, perhaps), audiences fervently wait for upcoming episodes – good storytelling might be the pull factor here?

Dramas like Bandhay Ek Dour Se is offering viewers a breath of fresh air! And writers like Faiza Iftikhar know this all too well!
