Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 is now the 3rd most watched television show (based on viewer ratings) on Indian Television only in a week.

Ever since Indian Television became the talk of the town again after the evergreen Rasoda meme got crazy hit, people actually started searching for the classic soap (My One & Only) Saath Nibhana Saathiya.
Then came a surprising moment for the genuine Saathiya fans (just like yours truly), when they got the news of its return on television with a sequel (Yayy!).
Jazbaati fans took the internet by storm, asking crazy questions about the storyline & cast…whether they are reprising their roles or… No! There was not even an inch of space for the makers to even think about Saathiya 2 without the old cast.
Finally a teaser came as a Thandi Hawaa Ka Jhounka for fans, and they calmed down seeing their beloved Gopi Bahu back again. But with an introduction of a new character named Gehna. And the mystery around this name begins…

The New Cast! Did It Work? Saath Nibhana Saathiya
Sneha Jain-A fresh face as the new-age Gopi Bahu (Gehna this time). And honestly (very honestly) she got the perfect one, as she seems to be (really) the perfect face for this role.
A hero was missing, and here enters the charming young boy Harsh Nagar, the prince charming of our very own Cindrella To Be. I think, the casting could not be better than this (they look so good!), but did it really work? As according to the story (of the new season) Gehna and Anant represent the most Suljha Hua Youth of this time.
The very caring and obedient girl and the ideal bachelor boy, who holds the pain of humanity in his heart… and believe me, they are just perfect for each other.
Apart from Sneha and Harsh, a whole new family is also introduced (were you imagining an Indian drama as a non family drama?) Akanksha Juneja, AliRaza Namdaar, Jay Pathak, Nadia Hemani, and some veteran actors are introduced as the Chacha, Phuppas, Maamis and Chaachis.
They are also good for their roles, but the people still cannot get over their very own Modis. So they are unable to accept the new family right now. Also, the new family is very toxic and (I think) the viewers will take much time to accept them.
Is The New Storyline Really Worth Watching?
On to the story. This time we welcome an improved concept from the previous season – Equality for the house help. (In A Fawad Khagga Style) Hmm… nice concept, very nice concept…but the execution could have been better!
Some forced pity here expected from the viewers – to sympathize with this young beautiful girl Gehna who is adopted but works as house help at Desais. Sometimes Desais also give major Baghban vibes.
The sons of a retired bank manager have their eyes stuck on their father’s salary. While the current track gave us a recreation of the iconic Rasoda scene.
Whenever I am bored with the toxic plans of the Desai Family… my dull face blooms by the scenes of Kokila, Gopi and the Modis! Do I think that the new family will be able to grip the audiences for longer periods? For that purpose, a very unexpected track is introduced by the makers.
Ahem Is Alive? Will Gopi Have An Extra Marital Affair With Him? Saath Nibhana Saathiya

I remember, almost four years ago, in Saathiya’s first season, the viewers received the biggest shock of the year – Ahem’s (the hero of the series) death.
Because the actor did not want to play old, he asked to leave the show, but due to unrelenting backlash by the audiences, Muhammed Nazim was brought back as Ahem’s look alike Jaggi (who was much younger than him), who married Gopi, and audiences got their Gohem back.
But this season is changing the story of Gohem in a confusing way. Ahem is shown as Gehna’s uncle, who is suffering from memory loss, while Jaggi is somewhere out of town.
In fact, I find Gopi also to have some mental issues. She knows that she was married to Jaggi years ago, still she is yearning for Ahem.
This is Khula Tazaad with Jaggi the poor. But after all, the viewers are getting Ahem and Gopi’s Love Story back, and as long as they are enjoying it, it clearly indicates that the guest appearance of Modis will be extended (Yayy!).
To sum up, I am enjoying Saathiya’s sequel very much. The biggest element that made me nostalgic is the classic background musical score from the previous season, which is inserted to the scenes of the Modis. But the fact that they just have a guest appearance sometimes make me sad. Anyways, lets see, how the season’s story unfolds and how the new family manages to keep us hooked in successive episodes.
