Domestic Abuse Needs To Be Addressed Head On, If You Agree, Then … “Let’s break the culture of silence that has enabled domestic and sexual violence to persist for so long.”
Mahira Khan, an actor & UNHCR National Goodwill Ambassador has joined the “join the chorus” campaign to raise public awareness against domestic & sexual violence.
She shared the news via a video message on her Instagram account, and invited everyone to ‘join the chorus’ and raise their voice against domestic & sexual violence.
Mahira spoke out (not for the first time), and we applaud her for it!
“The more we speak out against domestic and sexual violence, the more power we
take from our abusers.”
According to the UN agency “One in two Pakistani women who have experienced violence never sought help or told anyone about the violence they had experienced.” #JoinTheChorus” campaign is meant to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence.
Mahira went on to share the following video on her Instagram & Twitter feeds.
Home is not a safe place for everyone. Together, we can help free those harmed
by domestic and sexual violence. While one voice might go unheard, a chorus can not be ignored. 🕊🙏🏼
Mahira has raised her voice multiple times on the issue of domestic violence against women, and has always stressed that she will use her influencer status responsibly to address issues that matter.
And Yet Again!
It is uplifting to see celebrity influencers walking the talk. Not only does this set examples for a growing band of young celebrities with even faster growing social media accounts, but gives them reason to walk in step & ‘Join The Chorus’ to end domestic abuse and work together for a brighter tomorrow for all our young women, and men.
You Go Mahira Khan… Making It Count!
