Hum Kahaan Kay Sachay Thay Gave Us A Mashal Exit Last Night, But Did You Feel You Missed Something?

A gripping episode that teased viewers with lots of unanswered questions & unsolved mysteries. We bid farewell to Mashal & despite all her evilness, your heart does cry out for her.
We appreciate the director trying something different with storytelling, camera angles, edits & use of OST, in the sequence of scenes announcing Mashal’s death. However, we couldn’t quite get closure. Perhaps it was not seeing Mashal enough, perhaps we were not quite in sync with the refreshing (and experimental), shift in direction, perhaps we just felt something missing?
Aswad opens the door, but then we see Mahira, Mashal’s mom enters the room, but then we see Saleha crying, leaning against the wall, Shabo looking horrified… and then it all ended with Mashal gazing in the mirror. How did you like this take on direction?
However there were a few instances that just didn’t quite connect for us.
- How can you murder someone with sleeping pills?
2. Why didn’t Rabia or Saleha visit the jail even once to meet Mehreen?
3. What happened to the dog?
4. Why show now that Aswad actually did overhear Mashal & her mom’s conversation?
On another note, Aswad jee, be a man and own your part in Mashal’s death, don’t take the easy way out & blame everything on Mehreen. And of course, Aswad, Rabia & Nani are all in the race for most selfish character.
We wait anxiously to find out what happened between Mehreen & Mashal & what role Shabo has to play in the entire drama.
Director Farooq Rind deserves appreciation for the parallels shown as Mehreen remembers her bachpan ka scene when Mashal, Mehreen ko maar pitwa kar achee bun gayee thee, and now, Mehreen is being blamed & Mashal has all the sympathy.
The director has narrated the story with a different perspective, taking an artistic, choppy & a somewhat mysterious approach, but is it confusing the viewers?
Or
Are we feeling what Mashal’s family is feeling too? Lost, incomplete, helpless…because we can’t really get our heads around it, just like them.
A shout out to Kubra Khan for playing Mashal so intensely, so impactfully, that we felt every tear, we empathized with every act of rage, (despite being aware of the evil designs behind her actions) – when your audience loves you despite – you HAVE nailed it!
Mashal will be missed and although our heart goes out to Mehreen, her defiance is such (true to character) that we feel for her, yet, wonder what really happened between the two cousins before the curtain dropped!
Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay continues to keep us riveted despite a story line many have labelled as cliched? Tell us what you think and catch the twitter reaction!
