Deepika & Nawazuddin: Sheheryar Munawar Shares His Recent Experiences Of Poor Journalism
Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui is one of the most gifted artists in our entertainment industry. Sheheryar is not one to shy away from speaking his mind. Unquestionably, he has not only been a performer par excellence but, he has also won the hearts of the audience through his excellent direction skills, as seen recently in Prince Charming. He started his career with the drama serial ‘Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley’ but after a few dramas, he took the road to the film industry and gave us the recent hit ‘Parey Hut Love‘. We saw him as Aslam in Pehli Si Muhabbat very recently!
FUCHSIA met up with him at the PISA Award rehearsals where he revealed the following from his recent stint at the Filmfare Awards.
1. Sheheryar Talks About His Recent Photograph With Deepika Padukone
Sheheryar says it was a very casual human interaction for 2 to 3 hours at a casual dinner. He further explains that he didn’t want that picture to come out but it was leaked. He elaborated that both actors (him & Deepika) had a normal conversation as two people, not stars, and it was nothing but a casual interaction. However, it went viral, and then he had to alert his PR team to take it down immediately, which they did overnight. Lastly, he thanked the journalists who were kind enough to understand his point as well.
2. Shehryar Shares His Fan Boy Moment With Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Shehryar states that he met Nawazuddin because he is a huge fan of his acting skills. He further tells us that he has watched all his movies, and they had a nice conversation for 10-15 minutes. He explains that he mimicked one of his famous dialogues for fun and Mahira asked him to bow down & touch his feet in jest, so he did. Then Nawazuddin asked to take a picture with the two Pakistani stars. However, media published this & it could have been taken negatively. Furthermore, he emphasized that he is Sindhi and it is in his culture to touch the feet of their elders in respect.
3. Sheheryar On Winning A Filmfare Award For ‘Prince Charming’
Sheheryar says that nobody posted about me getting an international Filmfare Award on Prince Charming. He explains that none of the media publications posted how big of an achievement it was that a Pakistani short film got an award from an Indian platform. All everyone could talk about was my encounter with Bollywood stars in a negative way. Further, he expresses that, unfortunately, nobody recognizes the positive side of the two countries despite having political tensions.
We hope that, like us, you agree with what Shehryar seeks to highlight. Let us know in the comments what your opinion is about the state of journalism in Pakistan.
