Can You Be Best Friends After Divorce? Pehli Wali – Holding Up A Mirror To Happier Post Divorced Relationships?

Pehli Wali is the portrayal of life of a divorced couple and their lives after that. It focuses on the equation that they share with one another and how they manage to juggle with their lives while focusing on nurturing their two children together.

It is a short film by See Prime that has given us some thought provoking content in the past which includes Bano and Bachchay, Chahat, Dil Kya Karey and others. Pehli wali brings an original message across while adding a touch of humor to the fast-paced screenplay.

The Story Line

The plot revolves around a divorced couple with two children, their unique bond and love-hate relationship that keeps them knitted together. Even as they embark on new adventures in their lives, they can never block each other out completely..

Performances & Story Telling

Omair Rana & Juggun Kazim drop a comfortable camaraderie on us that only develops through many years of spending time together as a couple. The fact that they are not married at present adds an interesting layer to their relationship – one that many divorced couples might relate too, especially if they’re sharing children and are involved in day-to-day life decisions.

The script delivers a refreshingly positive feel on how broken relationships can be mended, yet approached from a completely different perspective – how we reach a new level of familiarity & trust when we see each other without the expectations that bear upon us as husband and wife.

The bond is definitely one that many divorced couples might want to achieve at some point in their lives – peaceful co-existence without actually living together? Interesting concept that!

Omair & Juggun have definitely handed out convincing characters to us. Do not fall into the mistake of thinking that the short film is merely a light watch – it carries layers that run deeper than the 30 minutes watch – we advise you (without handing out spoiler alerts), to delve deeper into the screen play and chalk out your own takeaway from the story!

For more details here is the trailer for Pehli Wali:

The Team Behind Pehli Wali

The ensemble cast includes the lively Juggun Kazim whom we have seen in dramas like Vasl, Uff Ye Mohabbat and Mishaal, Omair Rana whom we saw in Pyar Ke Sadqay playing the role of a harasser. Fortunately, in Pehli Wali we get to see him doing a much lighter role. In addition we have Sidra Niazi who looks stunning as ever.

Pehli Wali is directed by Sohail Javed who also directed Naam Kya Rakha? Bano Aur Bachey and Naseeba for See Prime, penned down by Lux Style award winning writer Rida Bilal.

It is produced by Seemeen Naveed who has produced many other web series including Article 370.

“This short film gives us a new outlook on the subjects like life after divorce and remarriage in our society – but not as a stigma. With its heartwarming and humorous moments, this film is sure to win the hearts of the viewers and get them to talk about something that mainstream media usually stigmatizes”,
