Bano Aur Bachchay – The short film that every family must watch!

Sensitive, thought-provoking, and a brilliant piece of art. These could be a few words used to describe the incredible short flim, Banu Aur Bachchey (a short film by See Prime) written by Sohail Javed, produced by Ali Hussain and Mahib Bukhari. The show has an ensemble cast that includes Najaf Bilgrami, Hani Taha, Anushey Abbasi, Nabhan Masood, and Mahmood Aslam.
“This film is a depiction of a disturbed parent that struggles to bring his kids together, and hopefully it will come as a realisation to those people who are going through the same situation. Our wonderful and talented cast and crew has worked very hard to make this commendable story come to life.”
The executive producer Seemeen Naveed
Here are three reasons why you should stream the film now:
The Story
Bano Aur Bachchay is a story of a man who is on his death-bed along with his 3 grown up children who share a dysfunctional relationship with one another, as they blame each other for their mother, Bano’s, death. Will their ailing father be the knot that ties them together? Will the 3 respond to his efforts or will he die unsatisfied, knowing that his offspring will always be at odds?
The ensemble cast
As mentioned above the short film has a talented and diversified cast. Firstly, we have our favourite Mehmood Aslam from the much-loved Bulbulay and Mahmood Sahab or as Gaiti’s father in Do Bol.
Mehmood Aslam delivers a heart-touching performance as the loving father of three children who wishes to see them united in his old age. The seasoned actor has cleverly caught the subtleties of his role, making us tear up and smile at just the right time! In fact, he carried the show throughout the 34 minutes of watch time!

Lessons on the importance of family unity, the love for parents and the respect they deserve, what parents have to go through after their children nest out, brotherhood, friendship, and lost love …it’s all there!
The short film also features another solid performer, Anoushay Abbasi who has entertained us recently with a scatter of diversified roles, acing every character with great panache. Anoushay plays a softer character here, doting daughter & protective older sister. It is hard to create space in a 30 minute short film with 4 major characters and 2 more, but she has managed to keep our attention as always – especially towards the end – (but we won’t spoil that for you)!
We watched her in the widely talked about Meray Paas Tum Ho. We’re also watching her presently in Raqs e Bismil where she plays the character of a woman who does not shy away from speaking her mind. Of course, can’t forget her in Prem Gali and she recently starred in short film Bewafa as well..

Short Film With A Packed Message
In the span of 34 minutes you will experience a roller coaster of emotions – from wiping away an unconscious tear to smiling relatably. The narrative is very close to reality – emotions that some of us might have experienced and that will surely resonate with many viewers. Furthermore, the film sends out resounding family messages – this one’s a quick watch on the living room couch with your siblings for sure!

The entire cast turned out a laudable performance, special mention, Jojo, to make this a very watchable project!

I loved Mahmood Aslam and Jojo’s acting. Jojo is a natural.
Uff, this short film brought back long memories in my life. I lost my mother to cancer 18 years ago. My father didn’t re-marry and raised his children alone. He is the source of my strength and joy, so similar to the father of the film. He will always be my hero
