Syra dropped Arzoo Daniel on us, and it was almost as if we were waiting for this character to complete the Sinf e Aahan picture etched in our minds so far.

The project is hell bent on being wholly inclusive – and at a time when Sikhs joyously enter into Pakistan through the visa free corridor to commemorate the birthday of their founder Guru Nanak, we needed this diverse character to touch base with the ‘Women of Steel’ strong girl clique – as that’s what it’s fast becoming.
What’s in a name, they say?
Everything?

Arzoo Daniel tells us how this ISPR driven initiative is sending out a message to all young girls hailing from diverse Pakistani backgrounds – that they are welcome in the army. In a nation that is home to minorities that cover approximately 5% of its population, it is imperative that they have a voice in the affairs of the state, be heard in positions of authority and help contribute to the mechanism of the state – women makeup nearly 50% of the nation’s population hence, their participation in the army should be celebrated and encouraged (given most of them hail from relatively orthodox ancestry) and equally, we must ensure and enable that minorities make their presence count – the white in the flag must be heeded.
She doesn’t need a hero
True to her strong girl feels as portrayed in the teaser, Arzoo appears to be committed to a relationship, but giving more equality vibes than submissive. She has dreams beyond the ordinary girl next door (if there is ever such a character in the entire drama) and perhaps, we can say comfortably that the casting in Syra’s case couldn’t be more apt.

This Sinf e Aahan teaser speaks to us in relatable yet poignant terms as we witness Aarzoo attending church, involved in a relationship, but not at the cost of her self esteem!

There is something visually energizing to watch Syra train onscreen – the army is a playing field where discipline and rules matter, especially if you want to play it fair (which she’s apparently missing in her relationship). The army will give us the tools to battle enemies, she utters, whether they come from within the country or abroad!
The project might be Pakistan Army driven but the messages, penned astutely by Umera Ahmed’s pen are resonating within the country – we hope that young girls are listening and catching a glimpse of themselves in any one or all of the very definitive female characters in Sinf e Aahan.

A shout out to Asad Qureshi who delivered a very impactful performance (and it’s only the teaser) and our universally loved onscreen dad Mohammad Ahmed, delivering proud father-daughter feels.
