Last night brought an end to Mehreen and Aswad’s tumultuous relationship in Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay and while the ending was tied up conveniently in a neat bow, many viewers were left confused and frustrated at the turn of events. Rushed or a real-life depiction of messy family affairs finally being resolved? Twitter had a lot to say!

The Key Takeaway From Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay
However, before we start sharing what the public had to say, here’s the key takeaway that writer Umera Ahmed wants you to focus on from Hum Kahan Ke Sachay:
- Its never too late to sort out your differences with a conversation
- Its never too late to say sorry
- Everybody deserves a second chance
- Never ever compare your children with others.
And we couldn’t agree more! While the ending of Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay might not have ticked all of the viewers’ boxes, it cemented the importance of empathy, forgiveness and compassion – something not a lot of Pakistani dramas advocate enough in their plotlines.
And The Audience Agrees!
An Unexpected Happy Ending!
Let’s talk about that ending! Fans were left wondering if Mehreen would forgive Aswad after all that he’d done – domestic abuse is no joke. However, Mehreen, being the tender-hearted person she was, understood that Aswad had demons of his own that needed exorcising and she was able to see past that and give him a second chance.
Breath taking On-screen Chemistry
And no one was happier about that last episode than the Mehreen-Aswad stans. The Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay fanbase was ecstatic that all of their wishes were finally coming true! And can we even deny their phenomenal connection?!
All Praises for Mahira!
Let’s take a moment to applaud Mahira Khan for her performance and dedication to this role! This had to be one of her most memorable roles, after she starred as Khirad in Humsafar, and definitely one to remember.
Often times Mehreen made us furious for her complacency at being Aswad’s emotional punchbag but her character also resonated with us on a deeper level – a woman caught between her heart and her history.
Mehreen is all of us, wanting to escape but caught within the confines of her own mind. With a heart of gold and being able to see past people’s flaws to who they truly are, we couldn’t stop cheering for her well past the final credits!
The Critique
While the drama did try its best at giving us its all, it did fall short on a few instances and the audience was quick to point it out.
However, we can’t deny that Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay and its main leads (Mahira Khan, Usman Mukhtar & Kubra Khan) won the hearts of audiences worldwide. The last episode has already amassed over 3.8 Million views on YouTube and there’ no denying that the drama was a raging success! Have something to add to the Twitter feed on HKKST?
