Has Gul made you laugh enough, or do you want more of her? Is Gul & Shaista’s bond resonating with you & your sibling? If yes, let’s get to know about some candid & hilarious moments from the sets of Sinf e Aahan by Merub Ali!
Merub Ali has enchanted audiences with her charm & depiction of Gul in Sinf e Aahan. Be it her innocent acting in songs like Lagaya Dil & Barish with Sajjad Ali or her modeling skills – she delivers! Today we’re going to give you some fun revelations about her experiences from the sets of Sinf e Aahan!
Merub Was Completely Comfortable With The Role Of Gul!
Merub says that she always wanted her first role to be a comic role because that represents more of her personality. So, when director Nadeem Baig explained to her about her role as Gul, she was extremely happy with it. Moreover, she told us that when she read the script, she realized her personality mirrored Gul’s perfectly because she also helps her siblings get their way. Hence, she says that Gul Khanzadah is essentially Merub onscreen!
On Forgetting Her Dialogues
Merub shared that she used to memorize her dialogues, just like doing a ratta for her Inter exams. But, in one of the scenes where she was kneading dough, she messed up her dialogues because of this issue. She elaborated further that in another scene with Shaista, she was forgetting her lines because she couldn’t sleep the night before. Therefore, director Nadeem Baig helped her recall all her lines by practicing with her.
Merub Learned How To Make Roti On The Sets Of Sinf e Aahan!
Merub revealed that she didn’t know how to make dough, but she learnt it from Nadeem Baig specially for a scene. While elaborating on this experience, she said she was first asked if she knew how to make dough, and she shook her head. Then she explained that she was told to pour some water and she didn’t realize the excess amount of water she added by the end of the scene – which completely ruined the texture!
Pashtu Accent Issues In One Of The Scenes!
In one of the scenes of the third episode, she accidentally spoke in her typical Lahori accent rather than Gul’s Pushto accent. However, she says that was her first day of the shoot, and it was the first-ever scene, so she gradually got the hang of her Pushto accent with time.
On Making Multiple Excuses For Shaista’s Disappearance!
Merub shared that she is a big fan of Umera Ahmed, and she was thrilled to know that she wrote the script of Sinf e Aahan. She says she read the script and loved the dialogues. Hence she didn’t want to mess up the script, (even though she wondered how can she keep making excuses for Shaista’s disappearance) so she delivered all her dialogues as they were written.
Kumail Didn’t Know How To Drive!
Merub explains that Kumail didn’t know how to drive the car in our car scene, so Uzi from Nadeem Baig’s team drove. She further explained that Kumail’s scenes were shot separately, but when it came to her scenes, the road was uneven, so they faced a lot of disturbances. Lastly, she revealed that she was delivering her dialogues without any response, (since Kumail wasn’t driving), so she had to do it with self made pauses to create pace. However, she says although it was a difficult scene to shoot, it was also lot of fun.
On Taking Her Flipflops On The Sets
Merub explains that there is a scene in the second episode where her mother was throwing a slipper at her and she laughingly explains that she took her own Nike’s flip-flops to the set so they would cushion the impact. She elaborates that she was so scared of getting hit by any other shoe (she had already encountered Shaista’s shoe once). So it was her pink flip-flops that the mother threw at her but luckily, in that scene, she dodged it nicely.
Merub Faked Eating In One Of The Scenes!
Merub explains that there was this one scene where the entire family was eating food, but she was not in the mood to eat. (Especially since they had taken several shots with the food earlier, and her appetite had left her now). She further says that Yumna kept asking her to eat because they had to, in order to shoot the scene. But she kept playing with her food until the scene was cut. Yumna called her clever to play it smart!
