The trailer of the much-awaited Adnan Siddiqui and Akhtar Hasnain produced film, Dum Mastam released this Thursday. With larger-than-life frames, a fast-paced storyline that revolves around the journey of two protagonists, Dum Mastam seems to be a promising watch!
Written by Amar Khan and directed by Mohammed Ehtashamuddin, the film will star Amar Khan and Imran Ashraf as leads. Other members of the cast include Sohail Ahmed, Saleem Mairaj, Adnan Shah Tipu, Momin Saqib, and others in significant roles.
What seems more than a love story, the film has a lot of elements amalgamated together. With a blend of drama, dance, heartbreak, ambition, and (seemingly) a story of love turning into hatred – Dum Mastam seems to promise a complete package of what an average viewer looks forward to watching in the cinemas.
It is a love-hate story of two ordinary people (who rise to become extra-ordinary), Aliya and Bao, played by Amar Khan and Imran Ashraf. Aliya is an ambitious young girl who has built this fantasy world woven with dreams to achieve big. Amar Khan has essayed the role well. All the filmy dance sequences with the dramatic expressions given by Amar Khan add to the cinematic experience and make her character look like one we cannot forget!
On the other hand, Bao is the aggressive gali ka ashiq. His goal is simple – to get the girl he loves (but does he really?). However, fate takes a turn when he with no plans of his, becomes a music sensation.
It is the journey of these two individuals who are over-ruled by the strong drug of power and fame. While it seems that a lot has been unveiled from the plot in the trailer, what awaits to be seen is how these two survive in the careers they have chosen for themselves and whether their fates will intertwine again or is there something else planned for them?
An amalgamation of expressed and unexpressed emotions, a retro Bollywood vibe, the film seems to have too many dramatic factors that one can only expect in fiction – but we aren’t complaining!
We also saw a glimpse of Adnan Siddiqui in the trailer, and boy did he manage to rule the screen with only one look!
Lastly, Dum Mastam has already won hearts with a completely unpredictable factor! What immediately hit our mind after the closing shot of the trailer was, how balanced the main leads’ narratives were. After a long time, the storyline seems to focus on both the male and female protagonists equally instead of shifting the focus on only one. Perhaps, that is the star power and the strong screen presence that Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan have! Or maybe that is how skillfully Amar Khan has penned the characters that both compliment each other.
Dum Mastam seems a well-crafted story, sealed by astute direction and grand production. All set to release this Eid, we have our eyes on this one!
