Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is diving into Hollywood to give people of colour the representation they need and deserve. She plans to do this via her own film and TV production ‘Extracurricular.’ Keep scrolling for details!
Malala Yousafzai is one of the creative leaders honored for Variety’s 2022 Power of Women.
In her interview with the publication Malala talked about her love for television & watching shows such as British sitcom “Mind Your Language” and ABC’s “Ugly Betty” to improve her English and decipher Western culture.
“You’re often told in Hollywood, implicitly or explicitly, that the characters are too young, too brown or too Muslim, or that if one show about a person of color is made, then that’s it — you don’t need to make another one. That needs to change,” Yousafzai said.
“That is possible, and I’m gonna make it happen.” She added. And what she hopes to bring to the table are the voices of women of colour & the stories of refugees.
“I want my name to be there in TV shows, documentaries and movies,” She said
Well, guess we’ll soon be seeing content produced & written by our very own Malala Yousafzai.
