You probably know about Wednesday, the newest Netflix original series, unless you’ve been living under a rock. For those of you who are unaware, the show is a fresh take on The Addams Family that follows Wednesday as she attempts to harness a recently discovered psychic power and unravel a mystery that involves her family.

Wednesday drew the attention of millions of Netflix subscribers, making it one of the streaming giant’s top-rated shows. Aside from the series, Jenna Ortega, who plays the main character, was acclaimed for her flawless portrayal of the gothic teen, Wednesday Addams.

Let’s dive into 5 of the most intriguing behind-the-scenes facts about the tv show

Jenna revealed in a recent Teen Vogue interview that after finishing a full take without blinking, Tim Burton asked her if she could do it for the entire series. The two already agreed that Jenna would adopt the “Kubrick gaze” for the role, but having Jenna maintain her character while not blinking, she said, really tied everything together.

2 – Jenna Ortega Cheorographed The Viral Dance Herself

Anyone who has watched the series or used TikTok will immediately recognize the scene we’re referring to. Jenna says that she learned how to dance in goth clubs in the 1980s and studied Young Wednesday from a 1960s Addams Family sitcom. It obviously paid off since not only are the show’s cast and crew gushing about the dance, but it has also grown to be one of the most well-liked trends and dances on TikTok right now!

3 – Filming Of The “Thing”

Contrary to what most fans believed, the Thing part was not created after filming using CGI. Actually, Netflix paid a professional illusionist to portray the iconic severed hand. A blue suit worn by the illusionist could be removed later. In order to capture the ideal angles for the character, he spent hours lurking under walls, underneath tables, and beneath floors.

4 – Tim Burton Contacted Jenna Personally

Jenna confessed that while she was filming A24’s X Tim Burton contacted her. Burton stated that he believed she was the only actor qualified to play Wednesday Addams and that he wished to speak with her personally.

5 – Ortega Had Never Touched The Cello Before Wednesday

Although Ortega dazzled the audience during her cello parts, she revealed in her interview with Wired that she had never played the instrument before. Instead, around two months prior to the start of filming, Ortega picked up the cello and started lessons.
