Peshawar blast – 45 martyred, more than 150 wounded. Here’s what we know so far as the events unfold. Read ahead.

Earlier today, Peshawar witnessed a suicide bombing. During Zuhur prayers, a blast took the lives of nearly 45 people, wounding 150 people, of whom many are in critical condition. This unfortunate incident took place in the Peshawar Police Line mosque, where a total of approximately 260 people were attending prayers.
The mosque’s roof collapsed, leaving many stranded under the debris and rubble. First responders were quick to pull them out and shift the affected to Lady Reading Hospital for quick medical check ups and to get the required treatment.
Who’s To Blame?
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack citing a response for killing one of their men in Afghanistan. After a truce with the government failed in November, the TTP increased its attacks in the area, with recent explosions targeting the military and police. (Source: The Guardian)
Peshawar is no stranger to such unfortunate attacks, blasts and incidents. The infamous APS attack, and last year’s attack at a mosque where a sect was targeted. Will there ever be an end to it?
