Wajiha distressed over Abaan’s assault news, Javed finally realizing his error of judgement, Khadija rising to confront the challenging reality before her. But is it too late for Abaan now? Perhaps the most heartening conversation in Pinjra’s latest episode was Khadija telling Javed that she will no longer keep things hidden from the children and she had the courage to own up to it before him: “Abhi tak baat na karke is position pe aaye hain hum.”
She also took ownership as a parent for all that has happened with Aaban. We are both responsible for what has happened to him, she told Javed. It seems that Khadija has finally let go of shouldering the blame alone and despite her anger and frustration at Javed, she understands she was also at fault.
Javed Discovers His lawyer’s Double Dealing
Javed has finally discovered his lawyer’s double dealing, yet the subtle messaging, to go through the courts to settle corrupt actions rather than physically lashing out at him was critical. His visiting Omar’s parents’ home subsequently and pleading for Abaan also pulled at our heart strings, Omar’s mother in the background, a stark reminder for us that although we feel for Javed, she too, had lost a child in this tragedy.
Sensitive Performance By Sunita Marshall
Wajiha’s sense of guilt at letting down Abaan, not knowing of his assault and utter speechlessness and remorse at his condition was very palpable and tore at the heart – a sensitive performance by Sunita Marshall. Finally, and what was perhaps the most unfortunate conversation throughout the episode, was Abaan telling his mom that he didn’t tell her the truth about the assault because she and Javed might not have believed him.
Will Khadija get another go at music? Will Abaan finally return home? Pinjra is parked at a crossroads and although we desperately hope Abaan is saved, Omar’s dad’s thirst for revenge is hard to swallow and sends shivers down our spine. How hard is it to forgive as a parent?
