1. Bandish 2 – For the horror film fan in you
Bandish 2 is the sequel to Bandish. The cast is new however the man in the director’s seat, calling the shots is still no other than Aabis Raza. While the first season had a star studded cast with Marina Khan, Hira Mani, Salman Saqib Sheikh and Sajid Hassan among others, Bandish 2 is packing quite a punch with a formidable cast of its own.
The drama takes on the horror genre where Sameer (Affan Waheed) and Wania’s (Amna Ilyas) family moves back into an abandoned house. Although the nucleus family, headed by Sania Saeed (Humaira) seems happily placed (no saas bahu shenanigans there), the house does seem to carry a haunted element which we are about to discover very soon.
That, coupled with Zainab Qayoom’s character’s quest for revenge over an age old family rivalry, will drive the narrative. be prepared to witness some black magic, (lots in fact), special effects, strange happenings and more as the inmates of the house settle in to their new home.
Horror is a genre that is on the rise in Pakistan and although the audience welcomes this narrative, it must be directed, screened and related in a manner that sits in well with viewer expectations. So far, performances are turning out well. It is great to see Affan Waheed back on screen and Amna Ilyas adds a refreshing feel. The story is about to slip into watch mode, so catch this one now as the dark side unfolds pretty soon – yes, it’s for the horror fan in you!

2. Tere Ishq Ke Naam – For the filmy drama buff in you
A love triangle? Well, actually, it seems to be more of a square. With director Ahmad Bhatti of Ghissi Phitti Mohabbat in the driving seat and a story from Maha Malik of Raaz e Ulfat and Kaisi Teri Khudgharzi, what will transpire in this romance drama is anybody’s guess!
Rutba and Altamash are in love (Hiba Bukhari and Usama Khan), but Khursheed (Zaviyaar Nauman) is the shadow that lingers as a possible interest though Rutba is least interested in this studious, self respecting young man. Why would she when she wants to tie the knot as fast as she can with speedy Gonzales aka Altamash who believes that success comes to those who are smart, not studious.
However, interesting to note that Rutba’s dad, (Jamal Shah, welcome back) refuses to get her married until she completes her graduation (which she has zero interest in doing btw). But that’s not all, there’s Azka (Yashma Gill) to add to the khitchri as the cousin who also has her eyes on Altamash?
Yes it’s all filmy, romantic and bordering on sazishi very soon. This one’s for you if you’re a typical Pakistani drama fan who watches to add some drama into your life. Performances are interesting so far. Khursheed is not your self sacrificing, less privileged bloke and Rutba is spirited, intense and oh so condescending towards him. The face off between Altamash and Khursheed might just be the breaking point. So go on and give this one a watch if you’re craving a swift filmy story!

3. Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri – For the romantic in you and Dananeer x Khushhal fans!
What could be better than a a refreshing new onscreen pairing in town than Khushhal Khan aka Saim and Dananeer Mobeen aka Zobia! With direction by Shahid Shafaat of Bakhtawar and Bikhre Moti and writing from Safar Tamam Hua’s Rahat Jabeen, we can hope the story touches upon a narrative that addresses issues faced by young people in our society.
What we can tell you so far is that both Khaushhal and Dananeer are prepping the ground for intense drama, a tear jerking story and multiple twists till we come to a quiet place. This one is going to be a journey for sure. It is no secret that Khushhal has delivered every character he has played with remarkable impact and Dananeer as the young girl next door is playing up to the role.
The young, spoilt girl narrative might be a tad OTT so we hope this one is curbed a bit, yet the story seems promising. Saim and Zobia are ‘just’ friends but seem to realize very soon that they might mean a bit more to each other. Zobia is your spoilt, younger daughter in the family and Saim, an intense, feeling young man, who shares a comfortable bond with his bestie Zobia. The two are about to turn the corner from besties to being in love. The first episode marked a swift pace, set the background and left us wanting more. This one’s too early to tell but as long as Khushhal sticks to a new character and doesn’t turn psycho in love, we’re looking forward to a story here! Watch to find out if this is the one for you!
