Erica Robins is now representing Pakistan at the 72nd Miss Universe Pageant for the first time ever and the competition has begun! Here are 5 things we know about her.

Pageant fans, isn’t it exciting to know we will finally be able to watch Pakistan being represented at a global stage with a Pakistani running for the title of Miss Universe? What’s even more special is this will be the very first time Pakistan will have its Miss Universe. The Miss Universe is a global franchise, and the Miss Universe Pakistan contest is a franchise owned by the Yugen Group, a Dubai based company which also owns the franchise rights of Miss Universe Bahrain and Miss Universe Egypt.
Though it seems the Pakistani franchise of the contest is in controversial waters coupled with a social media outrage over the country being represented in this year’s contest and adding on to that, the government has denied giving any approval for such a contest and representation. 24-year-old, Pakistani fashion model, Erica Robin was crowned as the winner for the first ever ‘Miss Universe Pakistan’ in held in Maldives. As per official reports, five participants were chosen as finalists from 200 participants. The Winner Erica Robin competed against Hira Inam (24), Jessica Wilson (28), Malika Alvi (19) and Sabrina Wasim (26).
Erica is now proudly representing Pakistan at the 72nd Global Miss Universe Pageant, one of the longest running beauty contests currently being held in El Salvador. As globally, awareness, being politically correct and female led movements gain momentum there is increasing pressure on conventional beauty pageants. They are supposedly making changes to conform, as recently in 2022 Miss Universe announced updating the criteria in a historic change to allow women between the ages of 18 and 28 who are married, divorced, pregnant or mothers to enter which previously were against the criteria. Though we still wonder if it is scratching below the surface of outward beauty.
The Miss Universe 2023 is currently underway and will announce the final winner on the 19th of November. Well in the meantime, here are 5 (recent) things we know so far about Erica Robin:
1. Erica’s Words About Repping Pakistan
The winner shared a few words post her win as the official entrant from Pakistan, “I am honored and humbled to be the first ever Miss Universe Pakistan and I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan, we have a beautiful culture that the media is not talking about, Pakistani people are very generous, kind and hospitable,” the winner said about the media and people.
On top of that, I would like to invite everyone to visit my country and try the most sumptuous Pakistani cuisines and explore our enchanting nature, our snow-capped mountains, our greeneries and our progressive landscapes” Robin said in an Instagram statement.
As she began her Miss Universe Journey, she feels thankful for the opportunity she has received: “When I was young, I always watched Miss Universe and I used to believe that a woman from Pakistan couldn’t join the greatest Olympics of its kind. But I also know in my heart that nothing is impossible and now having the title of Miss Universe Pakistan and being able to use my platform for good change and transformation – I strongly believe that Dreams Do Come True. Keep on dreaming and keep on working for your dreams.”
2. Fashionista For Leading Brands
She is not only a prominent part of the fashion industry, but also a preferred choice for many leading brands for their fashion campaigns, shows and editorials. Erica has featured in shoots and shows for reputable high end Pakistani fashion brands such as Sana Safinaz, Khaadi, Sania Maskatiya, Zara Shah Jahan, Elan.
3. On Breaking Stereotypes Associated With Being A Model
Recently when asked about the many stereotypes of being a model and which is the biggest one, she wants to break?
She replied: “The concept of being a model in Pakistan – it’s very to see it’s not really appreciated by many because people in Pakistan and it’s not as respected as other jobs. I want to change that, I want to tell it is a job as hardworking as any other, being a model, I work 5 days a week and it’s a 10–12-hour job and that’s why I get paid for it. It is as respectful as any other profession. I want to tell people, there’s another misconception, if you are beautiful, you are model, that’s not right! We as a model have beauty with brains!”
4. Avid Traveler & Adventure Junkie
We went on a deep dive into her Instagram feed and the fashionista is clearly an avid traveler and adventure junkie! Having travelled to multiple countries, the likes of Turkey, Thailand, Dubai, Maldives etc. and why are we calling her a potential adventure junkie? This post above of her paragliding in Turkey clearly speaks volumes!
5. Hard Working & Humble
Her friend and former Tamasha member and fellow model Zainab Raza say, “this girl literally never misses a single shoot no matter how tired or what condition she is in, I am a witness to this. Also, how she doesn’t just work 5 days a week, I have seen multiple weeks where she is working 7 days a week as well. Kudos to her for being honest and humble!” After all, friends know you best!
