Hareem Farooq tells us about Fari in 22 Qadam. Here are a few reveals from our conversation, wait for the full IV coming soon!

If the value of a project could be weighed in terms of passion, grit, creative pull and originality, perhaps 22 Qadam would stand out as a lesson in love even before the first ball is bowled. As episode one drops tonight, join us as we give you a series of conversations on the project. We start off with Fari aka Hareem Farooq who is expected to take us on a journey of courage, passion, tears, anger, determination and finally, triumph!
Hareem Farooq takes our questions on 22 Qadam!
How 22 Qadam Was Born
“We were sitting in Green’s office discussing a few concepts that we can produce and all of a sudden, we were talking about cricket, and we were like, oh, women’s cricket! We should definitely do something on it. And it just happened there & then. Obviously when the idea popped in, I was like hell yes! Literally felt like oh, this was meant to be and it felt like very good content for TV to make.”
Hareem Shares Her Fitness Journey To take On Fari
“I really had to work on my fitness because before I started practicing, I started coaching I had no idea how difficult it would be. It looks easy, very easy to us as spectators, just swinging the bat, just bowling, what is the big deal? But there is so much more to the sport, there is just so much more fitness. In fact, I really had to up my game. I had to start swimming & strength training, in fact so much so that I was actually injured during coaching. It became very difficult because I had to do the whole shoot with that injury. Fari is an all-rounder so learning all three things from fielding to bowling to batting, it has been quite the challenge, especially in terms of fitness.”
Fari From 22 Qadam
“Fari is a dreamer, a doer and super dedicated. She’s somebody who dared to dream big, so much so that it sounds like a fantasy, and she dedicated herself to her passion and she did whatever it took to make her dream come true and while making sure that she doesn’t give up her values. There’s a lot about Fari that I connect with oh, she’s somebody who’s not willing to give up.”
“This character really helped me get out of skin. It had to be as raw as possible. It’s not about how I’m looking. It had to be absolutely raw, about the sport, passion and commitment. So for those 9 months, I lived the life of a cricketer and it has had an impact on me as a cricketer and I would say, a great impact!”
Incredible Teamwork
Hareem especially wants to mention the dedication she witnessed from the entire team. “It was such a delight to work with these girls. All young and aspiring cricketers who auditioned for 22 Qadam. It was honor to work with these young women who refused to give up in the face of adversity. They come from challenging backgrounds and just watching them play the sport was so exhilirating. This project, I wqill never forget for a lifetime. It taught me that: Khwaab se bari koi cheez nahi hoti”.
“22 Qadam mein jo meine camaradarie, teamwork dekhi hai, meine kahin nahin dekhi, I hope we are able to make more projects like these. Special mention to Fizza Abid from PCB who was a flagbearer for 22 Qadam.”
