Zara Noor Abbas has rightfully made a name for herself in the Pakistani entertainment industry. She made her debut in Fahim Burney’s drama serial ‘Dharkan’. Later on, she went on to work in dramas including ‘Ehd-e-Wafa’ in which her character Rani received quite an overwhelming response from the audience.
She has also starred in drama serials ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Lamhay’, ‘Deewar-e-Shab’, ‘Zebaish’ and in films including ‘Chhalawa‘ and ‘Parey Hut Love’. Presently, we are seeing her in HUM TV’s drama ‘Badshah Begum‘ where she is playing Jahan Ara, who transitions from an urban girl to Badshah Begum.

Recently, FUCHSIA Magazine had the honor of hosting Zara Noor Abbas. In her chat with our host Rabia Mughni, Zara opened up about her personal and professional life and shared stories that we had never heard before! Continue reading to know what she had to say.
How She Got Into Acting
Zara studied at Beaconhouse National University where she learned the craft of film design, dancing, theatre, and filmmaking. Her first project was the drama serial ‘Dharkan’ where she played the character of Areen.
Did you know? Before her debut, she went on to give the audition for ‘Gotham City’ in New York! How cool is that?
“I was in New York and I spoke to Haseeb Hassan for a project but that didn’t happen. Then I talked to Faheem Burney. Before that I had just given audition for ‘Gotham City’.

After doing ‘Dharkan’, Zara starred in ‘Khamoshi’ and has never looked back since then and we’re not complaining!
Zara’s Take On Love And Her Marriage With Asad Siddiqui

For Zara, ahsaas (care), bhorosa (trust) and waqt (time) are the three most important things in a relationship. According to her, her relationship with Asad Siddiqui is not a conventional one. They both like to spend time with their families and try to learn things together. They even prefer cleaning together! Talk about couple goals!

Zara also elaborated on what loves mean to her and how she is attached to certain people in her life including her parents and her husband.
“Mohabbat fursat mein rehnay waloon ka ka’am hai…Love is a spiritual feeling that is beyond the idea of presence and touch.”

“There is a lot of sexism in the industry”

Zara opened up about sexism that prevails in our entertainment industry. She shed light on how male and female actors are treated differently and male co-stars and the rest of the team become ‘buddies’ and cover up for each other while female actors have to be more vigilant.

She further pointed out that the Pakistani industry still fails to follow basic ethical codes that are indispensable when it comes to working.
Zara On ‘Badshah Begum’
How She Landed The Role Of Jahan Ara In Badshah Begum
She narrated the entire story of how she ended up doing ‘Badshah Begum’. First, Rafay Rashdi approached her for the project but then she started expecting. However, the shooting for the project had not yet begun, and after the serial was offered to her again, she said yes.

Her Opinion About The Drama
Zara believes that ‘Badshah Begum’ was a risky project but something very different and innovative. She praised Khizer Idrees for his par excellent direction and the producers for investing in this project.
“I think audiences aren’t ready for projects like Badshah Begum yet.”

Thieves On The Sets Of Badshah Begum
The drama was shot in Larkana, in the ancestral haveli of the producer, Rafay Rashdi. The cast had a great time on the set and Zara told us that Hamza Sohail and Abul Hassan were an absolute riot! They would scare each other on set and spend the entire night talking!
Zara narrated a funny incident where once, they mistakenly thought that thieves had entered the haveli and they hid in a room to protect themselves!
