Jhoom – On A Cliffhanger & Keeping Us On The Edge Of Our Seat!
Even before Maryam and Aryaan’s love story could fully begin, there is a huge complication. Sherry, Maryam’s brother, is the guy who shot Tina. The couple will have to fight this war of love between themselves first, before facing the world and society due to the age difference between them.
Refreshing Age Difference Portrayal
It is so refreshing to see Aryaan talking normally about the age difference between him and Maryam and not even giving it a second thought. Such positive portrayals help normalize things that closed-mindedness might have made a taboo in society.
Maryam’s journey is natural and relatable. She is attracted to Aryaan but the age difference between them, “Log Kiya Kahengey” and how will her brother react to her relationship – all these are very real reasons to make her pause, not admit her feelings and discourage Aryaan as well.
Maryam’s character speaks of the challenges many men and women encounter in such situations.
Professor Tauqir’s lectures though interesting do not make sense amid the story of Aryaan and Maryam.
Ensemble Cast
The friends in this drama, Sam, Tina, and Mahlab actually have interesting roles and add to the story rather than just being there for the sake of it. Sherry is that typically selfish brother who only thinks about himself and wouldn’t refrain from stealing something from his own sister too, purely for his benefit.
Trigger Warning?
That gunshot scene was extreme, and scary and made one tense up while watching it. We request the makers insert a trigger warning before such scenes. The responsible portrayal of sensitive content is of the utmost importance to ensure they do not influence or torment age groups for which this kind of content is inappropriate.
Maryam’s Calm Nature
Maryam’s calm nature and treatment of the situation is definitely very positive but it might also be the reason Sherry is not taking her seriously and she is also unable to see through him. Or maybe she is in denial. Despite seeing Sherry with guys she doesn’t want him to hang around with, she doesn’t say much to him and easily agrees to arrange the money somehow when Sherry emotionally blackmails her.
We can’t wait to see what happens next once Maryam discovers the truth.
