Dear Kuch Ankahi Team, we are dedicating this song to you.
Aaye ho meree zindagi mein tum bahar bun key

Three Cheers For Team Kuch Ankahi
A standing ovation for the entire team of Kuch Ankahi for being brave and agents of change by creating content which is a class apart. Kashf Foundation, ARY Digital, Six Sigma, Roshaneh Zafar, Mohammed Ahmed, Nadeem Baig, Sajal Aly, and the entire cast of Kuch Ankahi.
Samiya & Saif’s Dilemma
The characters are multi-layered and written so beautifully, employing human psychology. Take Saif Ur Rehman for example; his dilemma is not just choosing between two women, or a shallow love affair, he is a person who has been trained by his surroundings and upbringing to be a certain way. He has never been allowed to take decisions on his own and learn to live with his choices. The minute he says “Normal mujhey bore kerta hai”, you wonder whom you should feel sorrier for – Saif for not being able to enjoy receiving respect and an empowered life, or Samiya, who was just dumbfounded with this revelation.
The conversation between Samiya and her mother in-law was finally a recognition of Samiya’s efforts. Three sisters enjoying a moment in the car was also much relatable and made us laugh. Women raising Their Voice on social media. Kuch Ankahi addresses bravely, the issue of a woman raising her voice for a cause and facing subsequent threats. What should she or her family do? Agha Jaan’s dialogues “hum badmashon ka muqabla nahin ker suktey” voices the concern and fear we face whenever we think about raising our voice to redress a wrong. We would like to empower our youth, especially girls, but how do we protect them? Or act at the cost to be prepared to live with the consequences?
Aliya & Salman Reading between The Lines
Let’s come to Aliya and Salman now. To us it is clear that Aliya is NOT confused. She is irritated at Salman for acting like a child and not understanding her situation, which she also expresses in her dialogues but is interrupted by Tanya. Salman on the other hand is panicking because he doesn’t want to lose her. He is also honest enough to recognize that she might have a more financially stable future with Asfar, and this is driving his insecurity that what if she …? Which also, unfortunately reflects, that in his fear, he forgets who Aliya really is.
Positive Relationships
As far as Aliya and Sofia Phuppo’s conversation about Asfar is concerned, it is very simple – a girl can like or be interested in someone but can appreciate another man. That, by no way means she is confused. All Aliya and Salman need is to talk to each other keeping their egos, emotions and expectations aside.
Positives Of the Episode
A shout to DOP Zaib Rao for giving us that beautiful scene on the chhat. The drama makers are juggling our thought process astutely. They present a situation and give us time to figure out our own response to that situation. Subsequently, they reveal what could have been an ideal option. Like when Aliya brings her new car home, everyone is silent and their expressions signal a question mark, but then Samiya, very casually mentions other benefits that might come in future, completely normalizing Aliya’s office perk, and dismissing the theory that this was extra attention lavished on her by Asfar.
The drama should be appreciated for showing the following:
1: A positive phuppo and niece relationship.
2: Salman and Thanvi coming to Agha Jaan’s help in a troubling situation.
3: Salman making an omelet, showing how it can be therapeutic to cook sometimes, rather than letting off steam on others.
Salman’s Mom
Does Salman’s mom realize what her son is going through? Or is she grilling and taunting him so that he is compelled to hold a conversation with Aliya and address their (mis)communication? Or, perhaps talking to her son herself might just do the trick to calm his fears and solve the issue between Aliya and Salman. After all, he listens to her. Which way do you think she should go?
