Pakistan floods have displaced many. Food, ration, donations, any type of help can go a long way. While many have opted to send funds and donations through NGOs, a few have taken the extra step to visit the affected areas and provide aid first hand. Such is the story of Maria and Waheed, owners of Mariyah’s Den. Find out how they are helping flood victims during these trying times.
Maria, the owner of Mariyah’s Den, and Waheed, her husband, were trying to figure out how they can help flood victims & eventually decided to give of their time & be present onsite rather than donate money.
They thought that since they’re already in the food business & are well-versed with running a kitchen and preparing meals in large quantity, they can set up their services in one of the affected areas and operate a kitchen serving fresh food to inhabitants from the area.
Maria and Waheed subsequently travelled to Khairpur where they were very generously helped by the Indus Resource Centre (IRC).
On their first day, they were able to feed 1000+ people & now on around day 16, they have managed prepared meals for around 5000+ people.
