“Zeher Lag Rahi Ho” – Is Murtasim going to satisfy our desire for revenge on Haya with his cutting remarks? Why do Meerab’s adoptive parents feel she has done no wrong? Though good to know that someone is listening to her side of the story too.
Murtasim pining for Meerab is all twitter is crushing over right now! Arey bhai toh phir Meerab ki baat sunni thi na, rather than dropping her off on the road in the middle of the night. He could have at least made a phone call to Waqas to ensure that she had reached safely inside – just plain responsible behavior, do you agree?
Question: Give your best answer in comments below:
How did Meerab get past the gate? Did she climb over it? Because if she had rung the bell, someone should have let her in and opened the front door for her too? Or, was the gate left open all night which is not a norm in any household. These minor yet significant errors in execution take away from the quality of the story telling.
Meerab’s mother uttering that Meerab hadn’t committed any wrong was stretching the truth a bit, but at the same time, Waqas deciding to go to Maa Begum and discuss the situation in person rather than over the phone was perhaps the wisest decision he has taken so far in the story. Also, Meerab needed someone to defend her stance and listen to her, which, thankfully, her parents did. Just that we hope their treatment of her actions is more balanced. Both Meerab and Mariam were at fault in the entire Malik Zubair fiasco, and there is no harm in calling that out. Shaming and blaming Mariam might not be totally fair on the part of Meerab’s parents.
Haya Become Ma Begum’s Favorite
Oh and of course, our dear Haya still gets away, in fact wins, by becoming Ma Begum’s favorite girl in the house. It was interesting that Haya finally opened up about her relationship with Mariam and told her how she had taken second place in Mariam’s life after Meerab entered the household. And how Mariam should have been more empathetic towards her (Haya), knowing how she felt about Murtasim.
Murtasim lamenting his loss as he stares vacantly into the sea is exactly what tragic heroes are made of. Bakhtu, the ever loyal, ever-present confidante is always the shoulder to cry on and he does the job this time as well. Murtasim later, reflecting on his own Nikah with Meerab as well as other Meerab memories is making him realize he can’t live without her presence. Is a union on the cards sooner than we think? And will Meerab accept him? She already feels betrayed that he did not listen to her side of the story.
Is Murtasim Angry At Haya?
Murtasim telling off Haya at the last moment “Zehar lag rahi ho tum” makes us question why he can’t come out with his thoughts clearly. Is he angry at her, does he realize she had kept the Malik Zubair information to herself on purpose, and if yes, then why doesn’t he make her pay for it or ask her for accountability before Ma Begum? Selective blame keeps us from appreciating the narrative completely and also challenges our intelligence as viewers – Tere Bin, yet again, employs manipulative storytelling to steer us in a particular direction.
